I Need Advice

D-set1

Please give me your honest opinion on this dining room set. The set I have now is way too big for my dining room, and I plan to sell it and buy a new one. While web surfing, I saw this and liked it. It isn't very formal, but for my house (and for me) that's good. I don't want a formal house. What say you?

I think it's lovely. With what you have shown of your home it seems like it would fit right in too.
Formal dining rooms are over rated IMO. :)

LOVE it!! Though possibly the seat pads need to be a more exciting fabric. I have commented on several of your blog entries, but my comments don't always appear later on, not sure what's going on, hope you get this one :)

In response to your request for advice, the MOST important thing, in my opinion, is to buy what you LOVE and in your heart you know you want. This is all about YOU and what others like best really may not be what pleases you. You need what makes you feel happy and good. I do think the furniture in the photo is lovely. In fact, I have a table that is identical or very similar to that one and I am very happy I bought it. Formal works for some people, but it's not necessarily for everyone. Do what you want, by all means. And, I wrote this because you asked. I don't like to tell people what they should do or buy or anything else.

Love it but I think the chair covers need to more color. Hugs, Marie

I think it calls for the yellow house! ('take me home....') But you have to be the one it pleases. I'm like you. I'm not into fancy-shmansy. If you can get it with seat cushions you like...many places will do that to order for you. Good luck!

I think it's lovely Susan. It's not too informal, but very pretty. I think the seat covers are a little dull, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a big deal to change. I'm so glad you are making your home just the way you want it. Enjoy! (And be careful about those tornadoes!)

I love it! I actually have that exact table...but with different (stained) chairs. It's fabulous! I really like those chairs, and you can easily do the back slipcovers from time to time to change things up.

I love everything about it. Never even noticed that the chair seats were dull. I think going with the neutral on the seats would enable you to be more daring with your accessories. You could change things up, e.g. linens, plates, bowls, etc. and not be stuck with one color scheme.

Love it! You could change it all the time for holidays. That white will go with anything.

Susan,

It's really pretty - can't tell if its by Canadel? We have a very large pedestal table from them that I love. Does it have any leaves that can be inserted? Having the flexibility to entertain a bigger crowd is helpful. Ours has an oval edge, so in a pinch, two can sit at each end - plus the 2 leaves can be inserted.

It really compliments the other changes you are making!

I have the table and chairs in your photo; I purchased them at Ashley furniture here in Canada two years ago. It is a lovely set. The chair seats are very comfortable and there is a weight to the pieces that makes them feel very solid. I have dressed it up formal but also keep it casual and it always looks nice, except for the time the chubby beagle crawled up and decided to sun herself in the middle of the table, using a table runner for her bed.

I think the dining set is very pretty. I especially like the hutch with the curved lines on the top. Go for it! I think you will enjoy having in the Yellow House.

I love it! If I didn't have so much $$$ invested in mine I would love to have a white one!

I say go for it! I love the white and the fact it is not too formal, but you could still 'dress it up' if you wanted to.
Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm glad you liked my pillows!

I love the dining room furniture! My dining room is not formal at all ... just very casual. I do not have a "formal" house.
I am so tired of the weathermen being on TV today! Thank goodness we have just had rain today here.
Blessings,
Donna

I love the set-but I have a smallish room-so I would look for something with with straight legs rather than the bulkier legs as it would give the illusion of space. I live in a tiny house, though-so every square inch counts!!! I would love to buy a house to fit this set!! It is awesome!

This is a lovely set! This only question I have is whether the table enlarges and if there is room to store any table leaf under the tabletop as some new tables do. I wish my old table had that feature.

I also vote for changing the chair seat fabric to something less like mud (it may look nicer IRL)and that matches your color scheme.

The hutch is charming!

Hugs!
