Many of you have suggested a Neti Pot for my sinus problems. I just wanted to thank you and to let you know that I've had one for, I don't know, maybe a couple of months. The first I heard of it was from my friend J.A. I balked at first. I mean, just look at what that woman is doing. Pouring water in her nose. I didn't think I could ever do that. But I did. And I admit that the process does help to clear out the, uh, well, stuff that you want to clear out.
I have the little plastic pot that I got at CVS (below, left). I didn't know about the fancy ceramic ones (below, right) that look like some sort of eastern opium den drug paraphernalia. I want me one of those. They're cuter, and they could double as a tea pot when I'm not sinussy. (Yeah, I know, YUK!)
I have not and cannot decide on buying those pink chairs. I know the price is right, but it's hard for me to justify buying more chairs, especially for a room that hardly anybody except me and Sophie will ever see. But I haven't completely discounted them yet either.
I'm looking toward a very busy weekend, starting tonight with Beth Moore Bible study. Then tomorrow evening, our WOW weekend women's conference begins. I'm very excited about it. There promises to be good music, good messages, good friends, and good food. What more could one ask? I wish you could all be there with me.
I've started sorting photos (the current step in my decluttering process). There are millions of them, it seems. In old shoe boxes, old storage boxes, drawers, old falling-apart albums. I'm using the pretty boxes that I bought at Jo-Ann's to contain the ones I will keep. And I'm packing the the ones I want Amy and Phillip (step-kids) to have in boxes to be given to them. There are lots of lots of pics from when they were little, before Vann and I married.
Yesterday I had a soul food craving, so I cooked huge pots of collards and blackeyed peas, with a pone of cornbread to go with them. (Caitlin used to say that I never do anything in moderation.) I ate as much as I could, then Andy came by last night and took some home with her. I have plenty left for today's lunch and to freeze a little for another day. Do y'all eat collards; do you even know what collards are? They good!

My son is a very picky eater and the last thing I ever thought he'd like is black-eyed peas and greens...but he loves them! Strangest thing! I really like the pink chairs...why don't you take a couple of yours and put them on consignment?

The neti pot changed my life! I've been using it everyday for the past two years and have barely had a sinus headache. Heaven!

Just like my sister to come up with a sinus remedy like that :) Wish you had a pic of her using it to post...Hope you enjoy Beth Moore, I know her husband, and worked for his Dad's company here in Houston for a bit.
I like your idea for a blog, may have to try that my self.

Being originally from England and now a Canadian I have never had collard greens or black- eyed peas( except in bean soup). Maybe you could post a recipe Susan. I remember they were part of your New Year's dinner.
Your upcoming weekend sounds great, enjoy.

Mmmmm, black eyed peas. I like mine with a little ham bone in them. What a great idea for a chilly rainy day's dinner.
I think you should get those pink chairs, and pick a couple of other chairs you have around (that you don't love as much) and sell them. Do you have any consignment shops in your area? They can be a good resource for getting a little something for furniture you can't really use.

Oh, that food looks like heaven on a plate! Honey, you've flung a craving on me. Perhaps that will be dinner tonight.
Your WOW conference sounds just wonderful and I wish I could join you. Eat extra dessert for me, okay?!
I'm in the "get the chairs" group. I'd certainly take the time to go sit in them before the weekend because you could lose the chance to get them. Between Craig's list and the consignment shop, you can sell them later if they don't work out or sell other chairs you have if they do work out. One chair for you and one for Sophie and in the perfect fabric. How great is that?
I need a good recipe for the saline solution for the Neti pot. I have a ceramic light green one that I used just once because the solution I made burned as if I'd gotten water in my sinuses at the swimming pool. Remember that unpleasant feeling?
I'm making a small St. Patrick's Day wall hanging. Last night I appliqued a shamrock on background fabric using the turned edge method and didn't do a very good job. Oh, well! I'm now sewing little green squares for the first border!
Hugs!

What is a collard? Just kidding, of course. Wish I had some. I bought a pound of bacon (the first in about 5 years) and fried it out, just so I'd have some bacon fat to cook with greens, for the flavor.

I love my Neti pot! I have the one from CVS that you have...I have gotten most of my daughters into using one, but my husband? Well, the first time he used it, you would have thought someone was trying to drown him! This 6'2" guy who was a defensive tackle and a career soldier actually said I WAS trying to drown him! Geez, men are such babies sometimes! I do love those pink chairs...why not give away 2 of the chairs you already have and then get those? I try to do that now when I purchase things...1 out, 1 in...don't always stick to that, but I try! Hope you have a great time at your outings this weekend..

Where I grew up we called them a "mess of collards"...not sure if it's just a saying around NC but it would go something like this...I'm gonna cook up some peas (blackeye) and a mess of collards...all I can say is YUMMO.
We both use a neti pot when we have colds and during allergy season...I swear by it...

$65 a chair is practically free, especially if they are in great condition & the color you want. You better grab them before some other saavy woman walks in and buys them. You could not reupholster your chair for anywhere near $65. You can always donate or consign some of your other things to pay the price or unload some other chairs. There is always someone lower on the decorating budget food chain who would like your chairs.

Not only do I EAT collard (and turnip & mustard) greens, I GROW them! Your meal looks delicious! Makes me want to get my lazy booty up off this chair & go cook some greens & cornbread! I saw those sinus thingys on Dr. Oz! I need to try that 'cause I am ALWAYS either stopped up or draining! TMI, huh? Sorry! As for the chairs, you do EXACTLY what feels right to YOU. And the photos? Oh, what a job that is! Mine are in a state of CHAOS. All in one PLACE, but NOT in the least bit organized, I'm sorry to say. It makes me so happy to hear about your lovely plans! Just sit back & enjoy the company, the food, the message. Let it feed your soul and your spirit! I LOVE YOU!
