Mini Fury

Snow

The Weather Channel is calling the snowstorm February Fury, but we don't have enough of a situation (yet) to really qualify as fury. But not a fizzle either.

It started snowing over three hours ago and it's still coming down pretty heavily. The 'hood has turned into a beautiful winter wonderland. I know that compared with some of you guys who are trying to dig out in the Northeast, this is not even a dusting. But we Alabamians get pretty excited about it.

Snow Trees On the right is a photo of Vann's trees. His friend from Georgia, who died of pancreatic cancer several years before Vann was diagnosed, planted them. His widow gave them to Vann as little baby trees. They're called something that sounds like "crepe de myria." I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling.

Sophie is lying in her spot on back of the couch watching the snow come down and barking at anybody who strolls by.

Oatmeal 2 After my friend Deb from snowy Indiana inspired me, I made baked oatmeal this morning. It's very yummy chewy good. Has rolled oats and steel cut oats in it, along with good stuff like butter, sugar, milk, egg, cinnamon, and dried cranberries and raisins. I also have a pot of potato soup simmering on the stove.

Our book club that was supposed to meet this afternoon has been cancelled due to the weather. Thanks goodness. I don't want to go back out today. Got my milk and bread--don't need anything else.

Oh well, it doesn't take Sophie long to come down with cabin fever. She's pestering me to take her outside. I think it's because Sugar, a neighbor doggie who beats a path straight to our house anytime the owner lets her lose, is out there. We made her a warm bed on the porch, so I guess she'll never go home now.

Fabric One more thing to show you. The mailman delivered this beautiful piece of fabric today. I ordered it to back that little lap quilt. I think it will work; the background is really a little creamier than it looks in the photo.

Okay, going to take Sophie out for a walk in the snowstorm, then I'm going to stitch an elephant. Stay warm everyone.

Oh your oatmeal sounds just yummy! Look at all that snow. Hampton called this afternoon to tell me it was snowing at his house...he was very excited. He didn't quite understand why it was snowing at his house in Homewood and not at my house. LOL!

Hi Susan, The snow does make everything look so pretty doesn't it. I think I would be getting excited seeing it also. At the moment I have all my doors and windows open thrying to get a bit of wind through the house to cool things down.I much prefer the cold.
Your oatmeal sounds yummy, mind you I think anything oatmeal and fruity is yummy.

The predicted snow missed us, thankfully, and went to the south of us. Your oatmeal sounds wonderful. Have a cozy snow-in.

I am so glad you tried the baked oatmeal...it is good and I also have a bunch of other oatmeal recipes. As you can tell, I like oatmeal! Hope you don't get any where near the amount of snow we get...it is pretty, as long as you are on the inside, looking out, with a cup of tea in your hands! This Texas girl still can't get use to all this cold! Ah well, could be worse..Hope you have a great weekend!

Vann's trees are lovely, especially in the snow!

East of Atlanta where DS1 lives it's been snowing for hours and all is a winter wonderland, too. Please keep it all south or west of us, okay? We're just seeing patches of grass again after about 2 1/2 weeks of snow on the ground in Virginia, for crying out loud!

Love the roses fabric!

Happy elephant sewing, one, then two!

Hugs!

Nothing like having the postman deliver fabric when it's a stay-at-home day!

That snow is BEAUTIFUL & MAGICAL! Sigh! We're cold here - no snow, but cold - and I would love Sophie doggy to come snuggle with me! YUM! Homemade potato soup is one of my favorite things! Do you put boiled egg in yours? The baked oatmeal looks like a keeper. I'm going to try that!
