I don't visit Ebay very much. I get in all kinds of trouble when I do. Like the time when I got on a salt/pepper shaker kick. I had boxes full of them before I ever got hold of the compulsion to buy them. Most of them have since departed my house via yard sales and charity store donations. So you see, I try to steer clear of Ebay.
I've been looking for a vintage table lamp as a companion for this one, which I bought at a thrift store a couple of years ago. I've checked thrift stores and yard sales since then, but have never found another one. So I decided just to take a peak into Ebay's window and see if I spotted one. I did. In fact I spotted two, so of course I bought both.
They were offered at excellent but-it-now prices, about $15 each, the same as I paid for the thrift store lamp. But I should have stuck with just the first one I bought. While the other one is beautiful, I is missing that construction that holds the lamp shade on, so I'll have to work on it. I had Vann to rewire the one from the thrift store, but I think I can make the additions that this new aquisition needs.
I love this one (above), the first one I bought on Ebay. It's just a little smaller than my original thrift store lamp. But look at the swans that form the handles on the sides. And it's perfect just as it is. No rewiring or repairs. Click to enlarge the photo and you can see the little golden feathers on the swan's breast. The lamp above needs work. It's the one that has no way to attach a shade. But I love that it still has its original bakelite plug.
Anyway, I love all three of my lamps, and I can now get rid of those fake crystal ones that I've always hated. At least I think they're fake crystal. I've had them so long I can't really remember.
The decluttering process has come to a virtual standstill. After dealing with all the account details yesterday, I did just a wee bit of cleaning out drawers and boxes. Last night the pain was back in my shoulder big time. It's better today, still not gone though. And I'm afraid to lift anything, even magazines. I think I'll cool it for the rest of the week at least and not be fooled this time when I have a pain-free day.

Great lamps. I understand about EBay - I try to stay away from it also. Take care of yourself.

Ebay will just suck us right into the wicked world of bidding. I have a collection of Enesco Rudolph figurines that I purchased over several years on Ebay. I haven't displayed them in years and have thought about selling them on Ebay but haven't looked into it. I love the lamps you found and I am sure you can figure out the wiring issues.

eBay and I had to part ways too--I will buy something & then be disappointed when it arrives. I know that I would never have purchased it in realtime. It's not the seller's fault; it's just part of the system. You can't pick the item up and examine it.
My hand is really hurting today--even to type so as much as I avoid the Rest Advice, like you, I have to take heed.

Ohhh! eBay is a wonderful lure and trap! I have many things from eBay and some have also moved to other homes or donated. I rarely go there now.
Your lamps are lovely and a lamp shop - or a handy neighbor - can do the needed repairs on the second one and it will still be a bargain. You'll enjoy these new-to-you lamps for years to come.
Hope your shoulder will stop hurting so you can do as you please.
Hugs!

I have never bought anything on Ebay...looked around, but not bought...way too much stuff on it and I could get into trouble! Please do listen to your body...when there is pain, it is the time to STOP!! Close the door and don't look at the mess!! That works for awhile! Hope you're having a warm day...it is sleeting here...6 MORE WEEKS???I may be mad by then!! This has been one long winter! Can't wait for the flowers to be blooming! Hope you have a good afternoon!
Hugs from a wintry Indiana

The lamps are beautiful! Just take care, just a little bit of cleaning at a time. I'll try to take my own advice!

If it just needs a harp, you should be able to pick one of those up at Home Depot or Lowes easy.

I love the lamps! They are all beautiful. I saw them on your Facebook Page first and then hopped over here. Good find. I am sure if you take the lamp to Lowe's that they have the metal form that holds the shade on as they sell the parts. Also, Home Depot has them. Hope this helps, Kerrie

The lamps are beautiful. I am also drawn to Ebay as I have been able to add to my collection of my great aunt's china. It's fun to finally track something down.

LOVE the lamps! I am one of those 'cannot tolerate blaring overhead lighting' kinda people so lamplight is important to me. But NONE of my lamps are pretty! Those are GORGEOUS and FEMININE and PERFECT! Thank GOODNESS I don't believe in credit or debit cards 'cause I would be in so much trouble if I went to EBay! EEEEEKS! Glad you are listening to your body and not going to overdo or lift! Love you!
