Happy BIrthday, Sophie Belle Patterpaw

Get-attachment-1.aspxToday is the Soph's 8th birthday. This is a photo of Baby Sophie after a bath. One of my and Vann's greatest trips was when we drove (yes, drove) up to Warwick, NY, to collect our little Sophie in March of 2002. On the way, we encountered a snowstorm in Pennsylvania, and we barely made it out of New York with our puppy when a blizzard hit the area. We had a lot of good conversations reliving that trip.

Happy Birthday, our Sophie dog. You have brought lots and lots of happiness to the Yellow House. I pray that you're here for lots of years to come.

41QGHA3XK1L._AA400_ Is this not the most adorable sewing machine you've ever seen? A Hello Kitty machine. Do you have a little daughter or granddaughter or some little girl (or even a little boy) who would love to have this? You can find a thorough and informative review of this little jewel at my friend Diane's blog. Apparently this is no toy, but a real sewing machine with decorative stitches, back stitches, even a buttonhold stitich.

I wish I had a little one to buy one for. I'd buy it for myself if I hadn't so publicly and adamantly declared that this is the year to get rid of unnecessities. And since I already have several working sewing machines, that would certainly qualify as an unnecessity for me.

BCraft3  My good friend Marilyn isn't a quilter herself, but she knows I am. She's also one of my faithful blog readers. Marilyn brought me a copy of Country Woman magazine with a picture of this fun quilt, "Wiggles and Giggles" in it. In the editor's note I learned that I could find the pattern online--and I did. Here it is, if you're interested. I'm putting this in my stack of plan-to-make patterns. Thanks, Marilyn.

I'm writing this blog post on Sunday and scheduling it to post on Monday morning. The cold weather is really causing the Fibro Monster to take charge around here. The pain, stiffness, and fatigue are leaving me very little energy for anything except playing on the computer or staring at the tv. Even reading seems to take more energy than I have.

But if that mean old monster takes leave before morning, I'll be attending the January meeting of my quilters guild. If that happens, I'll have show-n-tell photos for you on Tuesday. But don't hold your breath. Just going outside for a few minutes with the doggies in the cold is a challenge.

But as Mr. Percy Bysshe Shelley penned, probably somewhere on the sunny Italian Riviera, "The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind, If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"

Let's hope not.

Happy Birthday Sophie! My dog, Jasmine, is 9...she looks just like Sophie, except lighter in color....I am glad Sophie loves her baths..Jasmine is a handful, as she has arthritis and doesn't like to be messed with too much. I understand how she feels...there are just times you really don't want to be touched when you're in pain! Hope you get to feeling better...I know what you are going through..living in Indiana is not where I should be with arthritis and fibro, but that's where I'm planted for now...someday maybe I'll be back in Texas! Hope Alabama warms up soon!
Hugs from snowy and cold Indiana...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET LIL' SOPHIE-DOGGY! You were SUCH a cute puppy & you are such a cute grown-up doggy! AND SWEET, TOO! Susan, I am SO with you re: the cursed Fibro. I'm feeling it in everything I TRY to do! But we are survivors, my friend, and we will get through it! So THERE, you hateful old Fibro pain! See what we think of YOU? Seriously, I hope you make it to your quilting meeting, but if you don't, just relax and stay warm with Sophie! Is Miss Daisy still visiting? She's a cutie, too! You are going to turn me into a doggy person for sure! I LOVE YOU! And Sophie, I am sending you EXTRA 'loves' today!

Susan, last night I took Sparkle out for her last walk and noticed that our oak tree has beautiful buds on it already! Spring is coming!!

Happy Birthday to Sophie! She shares her day with my dad. Her little friend reminds me of Sparkle.

Hope you have a great, pain-free, day today!

Happy Birthday to Miss Sophie! Will she have any special treats today?

Love the Wiggles and Giggles quilt and the darling sewing machine but have no littles to thrill with these items. Will save the pattern for a maybe baby someday and/or a donation quilt. Thanks Donna!

I hope that you've felt well enough to go to quilt guild because it's such a wonderful boost to be with friends and to see/touch/talk quilts. Be good to you!

Hugs!

Thanks for the link to my sewing machine review. Some have come by to read it from your blog. Hope it helps somebody make a decision.

But ya gotta quite posting about sweet Daisy. She makes me cry with those whispy ears and winsome eyes. Never saw a dog so much like my first one, Beau, who went hitch hiking across America one night. Maybe Daisy is one of his kids? Could be since he was a wanderer.

I bought one of those sewing machines for my niece when she was 9. When she comes to visit we always have some kind of sewing project. I felt success when last summer she needed something mended, on her own she took out her machine to fix it. It's a great little thing!
