Sun Bonnet Santa on a Sunday Afternoon

SB Santa Tomorrow is Birmingham Quilters Guild's annual Christmas party. I made the Sunbonnet Santa block for the block drawing. The green background fabric came with the pattern, and you had to add the other fabrics and use whatever applique technique you wanted. I fused my pieces down then blanket stitched by hand. I think she's sort of cute. The block is 8 1/2" square.

Although the weather is still grey and damp, the temps are a little warmer. And my fibromyalgia symptoms are better today. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. I was even able to pack a couple of what I've come to think of as clutter boxes this morning.

I have a pot roast in the crock pot for a covered dish dinner tonight at church after the children's program. I'm also going to make French onion rice to take.

I'm feeling a lot better mentally today too. When the fibro symptoms are bad, it makes every other situation seem worse. Yesterday I felt like I'd never get my house decluttered. The stacks and boxes were cause for much anxiety. But today I can see it for the process that it is, and I have a little more patience with that process. I still wish it would go faster, but it's no longer causing intense anxiety. I'll get there.

Time to walk Soph. She's on the back of the sofa pouting because I won't come on. So I better go. Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday evening.

Glad you're feeling better physically and mentally. I think you're doing very well considering the year that you've had.
Love your Sunbonnet Sue, have fun with your church and quiltie friends

I love your Sunbonnet Santa. Very cute. Any chance you'd consider writing a tutorial on it? I'd love to make one.

Just be gentle with yourself. It's been a long couple of months.

I hope you feel better, too. A walk will help clear your head and energize you. The little Santa Sue is precious! I've never seen one before! I love it!

That is the cutest Santa/Sue I have ever seen. Your house will get decluttered - just keep working on it and it will happen. There isn't a deadline.

glad to hear you're feeling better today, try not to overdue, with the winter weather about it could cause another flare up. My best friend suffers with fibromyalgia and I know that winters are particularly hard for her, add in the extra work and the stress of the holidays and it can get bad. I'm sure you know all that, just remember to rest!

I'm wondering if Sunbonnet Santa shouldn't be called Santahat Sue? Glad you're doing better. I know when I have a migraine, it really takes the wind out of my sails for a couple days. I'm useless. Pot roast sounds good.

So glad you're felling better and that the boxes aren't bugging the daylights out of you today.

Sunbonnet Santa is so cute! Well done! I wish I had your applique and blanket stitching skills. Hope you have lots of fun at the guild party.

I imagine your home smells heavenly with pot roast and French onion rice cooking. I can almost smell it now! Yum!!!!

We've had rain, rain, and more rain but it cleared in time for a pretty sunset. I can feel my fibro grumbling but it's not as bad as yours.

Hugs!

I've crocheted variations of Sunbonnet Sue for YEARS but never, never saw one as adorable as your pieced Sunbonnet Santa! I LOVE IT! So cheerful & colorful & Christmasy! You are doing so much MORE than most of us TOGETHER could handle after the long year you've just endured and the physical pain you suffer. I think you are astoundingly strong! I KNOW you are WONDERFUL! Have a good time today and take photos to share! (Oh! May I sneak in there and sample that roast & rice, please ma'am? Just to make SURE it's delicious for everyone, you understand. Gobble, gobble!)

The sun should have reached its sunspot minimum last fall, but this spring when the number of sunspots should have been on the rise, they were still largely absent. Some sunspots returned in June and July, but have since disappeared.
