The Good News IS the Bad News

14533_1149633057141_1117020633_30387325_1255621_n I know I should be congratulating my sweet friend and next door neighbor Ashleigh (on right in photo) this morning. But what she undoubtedly thinks of as a time to celebrate, I'm just thinking of as more sad news. Well, sort of.

You see, Ash and her boyfriend Thomas got engaged recently. Then Thomas took a job in Lafayette, La., and now they're moving down there and Ash won't be mine and Sophie's next door neighbor anymore. And we're going to miss her something awful.

Ashleigh and my daughter Andy (Angela) work at the same medical facility. The photo shows them at Ash's going-away sharing a hug. Tomorrow is Ashleigh's last day at work.

Ashleigh was a big blessing to me, Vann, and Andy this past year. She was always there with warm banana bread, hand knitted hats and blankets for Vann, and even a warm knitted scarf for me last winter when temps got so cold. She always had a big hug for Vann, and he thought the world of her. And Sophie knows that Asleigh always has a special treat in her pocket for the black dog. Why, she even goes over and knocks on the front door at Ashleigh's house to get those treats.

I do pray that this is a happy new beginning for Ashleigh and Thomas. Even though the neighborhood is losing Ash's presence (and her warm banana bread). May God go with you, sweetie, and keep you safe.

You and your daughter look so much alike!
Wishing your neighbors well...it's tough when good friends/neighbors move away.

Ah, it's difficult to lose good friends to distance, but friends of the heart are never very far away. May Ashleigh and Thomas live happily ever after. You need her banana bread recipe.

I'll hope and pray that you get wonderful new neighbors who will understand that a box of treats is needed for the times when a little black dog knocks on their new door.

Hugs to you!

She'll love Lafayette, it's not near where I grew up, but I've been there lots! I feel the same way about moving from my neighborhood...I had lived there 17 years! But hopefully you'll get some great new neighbors and maybe somebody for Sophie to play with?

I know you will miss your special friend and neighbor, but true friends are always in our hearts.

Gosh, Susan. I didn't have to wonder which one was Andy. She looks just like you.

I know, I know; my best friend moved away in August and I miss her like crazy. It's hard, especially when you're still really happy for them. Hugs.

I can see why it is sad and happy too. Good Luck to her and maybe you will find a banana bread in the mail from her one day??
Hugs
