I found this cute little tin at our local thrift store recently. I bought it for a dollar and came home and ran it through the dishwasher, thinking that would remove not only all the dirt, grime, and germs but also the rust. The dirt and grime are gone, and probably the germs as well. But the rust remains.
Vann says it's going to take a lot of scrubbing if I want to get the rust off, and I'm sure he's right. After all, he has de-rusted a lot of stuff in his time. I just thought I'd see if anyone out there has a miracle rust remover. Well, do you?
I also found this pretty fan. It didn't have a price, so I asked the checkout lady how much.
"How about a dollar?" she asked, "because it's old." Well, it isn't old, and if it was it would probably cost a lot more than a dollar. But even though it's only a reproduction, and it's broken, I bought it anyway because I love it.
Book club is this afternoon, actually in about an hour. I haven't finished the book (Down the Garden Path by Beverley Nichols) and I haven't showered and dressed. So I guess I'd better sign off and get busy. Hope everyone is having a lucky Friday 13th, already the second one this year.
A wee Irish Blessing:
May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Try Coke Cola and Reynolds Wrap. Dip the wadded up Reynold's Aluminum Foil in the Coke and scrub. I read about it. Tried it on the bike I had as a child I brought home and I was amazed how well it worked.

You may even be able to pour some coke in the muffin cups and let it soak a bit before using the aluminum foil. . . . I goodled "remove rust from metal" and there is a post that suggests soaking in distilled vinegar overnight. . .

You might try a Mr Clean sponge.. OR there is a product called Rust Off (or something close to that). I get it at Kroger or Walmart. It is a small brown bottle and removes rust from anything. It is a liquid and you just squirt it on the rust. I used to live in a house with a horrible well that would turn the tub orange. This would get it all out. I also have removed rust from clothing, carpeting and floors with it....

I had rust on the clasps of my Singer sewing machine case and it came off easily with steel wool.
Good luck with it.

Steel wool is what I was going to suggest also. Whenever you find something that works let us all know.

Naval jelly is a rust remover that supposedly works very well, but I'm not sure about it's toxicity.

CLR works pretty well, but just don't leave it on there very long. it will take off the surface of pretty much anything. If you go that route, I'd suggest washing that pan thoroughly before using it.
Did Dad tell you I called? I forgot to call on your birthday so I called the next day but you were out. I'm sorry I missed you. I hope you had a wonderful day!
