I guess that old ground hog saw his silly old shadow on Monday. Anyway, I don't see any signs of spring around here. Temps in the teens last night with a stiff north wind--and it's still very cold today.
Our friend next door, Ashleigh, is helping me keep warm, though. Look at the beautiful wool scarf she knitted me. It's really really warm. And I adore the colors.
I promised to show you some more red birds that have arrived recently, but first I want to tell you of an idea I have:
CARDINAL TREE
I'm going to create a Cardinal Tree to stand in the entrance foyer at The Yellow House. Just a small one that will sit on the antique Singer sewing machine. I'm going to hang all the red bird cards, ornaments, etc., that everyone has sent. And those that won't fit on the tree will sit around it.
If you haven't already and you'd like to contribute a small red bird, I would love to have one from you for the tree. It can be handmade or purchased, any material, about the size that would fit on a small tree. The tree will be white I hope. I don't know how much trouble it's going to be to find a small white tree this time of year. If you know where I can get one, please let me know. This Cardinal Tree will be our totem tree and will be dedicated to all our friends and prayer warriors who are helping Vann though his healing journey. If you want to contribute, e-mail me at suscleve@aol.com or leave a comment here with your e-mail address, and I'll send you my mailing address.
BLOGGY DRAWING
Sophie and I will be drawing for the 700th post giveaway prize later today. I'll announce the winner tomorrow.
Now for the new redbirds! The first photo is a lovely Xstitched prayer sampler that our sweet Texas friend Kai stitched for us. The second photo is a lively little stained glass ornament from another Texas friend and terrific artist Diane. The third photo is a beautiful red bird photo sent to us from our daughter Amy out in Portland, Oregon. Thanks to all three of you. We love all the cardinals. (The last picture is a space filler that I included so there wouldn't be a hole on my page.)

I'm so thankful to Our Father for Vann's improvement!
P.S. I used to have some little felt and wood cardinal tree ornaments, but used them for so many years they got really shabby, so I threw them away. Sorry! Looking forward to seeing your redbird display. Love - Joanne

I actually dreamed about a cardinal ornament last night. It was so vivid! I will be on the lookout for something for you.

Nice idea! Hope you can find a white tree that will match your imagination. If nothing else is available, you can always spray paint a small tree branch white. My mother did that for a Long-ago Easter and she hung decorated eggs on it.
Your new scarf is beautiful and the cardinals are wonderful! Applause!!
Hugs!
