When I told Sophie she had the honor of drawing for the 700th Post Blog Winner, she seemed amenable enough to the idea. So I printed out all the comments, cut them apart, and placed them in Mr. Bill's cap (which he had left lying on the sofa while he and Vann are gone to Wal*Mart). I used Bill's hat because he's one of Sophie's favorite people (isn't everyone?) and I thought she'd like the smell. I even put one of her favorite treats in the bottom of the hat to entice her further.
She took a look into the hat, then looked at me, then licked her doggie lips. I thought she was going for it. But then she snuggled back down into her comfy bed on the back of the sofa and refused to consider it further.
I think I know what the problem is. Sophie thinks that all the people that don't win will be mad at her. Anyway, she just wouldn't do it, so I drew the winner myself. This is how I did it: I drew one name at a time and laid it aside. The last name in the hat was the winner. I didn't look at any of the names until I had drawn the last one. And that one is:
