Queen of Soul--and Millinery

3276-haaaaat_head_

I think of all the inspirational images I have of the inauguration, this will stay with me longest. Who cannot admire a woman who would wear that hat at an inauguration in front of 6 billion people? I love you, Aretha.

Vann is recovering from his two intensive chemo days. No more for two weeks! Hurray and Hallelujah!

It's sunny and cold here today. Vann is going to rest up and recover from chemo, and I'm going to do laundry or go grocery shopping, whichever comes first. Tomorrow I hope to finish up the Hearts.Com quilt top. I'm almost finished.

BUT WAIT
Had to take Sophie out for a romp. We stopped at the mailbox, and look what was there!

Catalog I guess I'm just going to have to stop going to the mailbox if I want to stop buying more fabric. There's so much great new fabric inside these pages, including the Cicely Mary Baker fairies and some more fairies and birds and trees and cherries and ladybugs and dragonflies and pinks and blues and greens and.....

If you don't get this catalog, go to Hancock's of Paducah website and see all the fabric treasures. Like these pictured below.

Healing Scripture for the Day

"Behold, I will bring you health and cure, and I will cure you, and will reveal unto you the abundance of peace and truth." Jeremiah: 33:6

Note: I just had a thought. Wouldn't that fabric (taupe with blue birds) make gorgeous dining room wallpaper. With chair railing, painted pale green or blue or tan below and the wallpaper above the chair railing?

I'm happy to read that I am not the only one that loved Aretha in that hat. I mean, does she look fabulous or what?!!!! Of course, I love Aretha all of the time.

You and Vann rest up. I'll keep up the prayers.

I loved Aretha in the hat--she can really carry it off (me, not so much). I received my Hancock's catalog too and am looking forward to drooling over some new fabrics.

Sending healing, strengthening vibes to Vann this week; my heart goes out to him.
I think the docs figure out the dosages of chemo so that when we FINALLY feel better, it's time to go for another go-
'round!!!And thanks for sharing the new
Hancock's catalog...more fairies and birdies, etc.!!!Sheesh! You are getting me into all sorts of "fabric trouble"!But:
what the hell?!Gotta have SOME fun in these "golden years", right?!!God bless!

I am glad to hear that your husband has a break from his chemo. I am praying for the two of you.
I also loved Aretha's hat - how could you not!

I am so there with you on that hat!!! The color of her outfit shows off her beauty, IMO. I was pretty much glued to the tv yesterday, it was just awesome!

Glad Vann is getting a break and hope his latest treatments don't get him down for too long.

Love your idea for that "wall paper" fabric, it would be gorgeous in my dining room, lol! The bottom part of ours is a really nice stained paneling and my dad "forbids" me to paint it so I'm stuck with redoing what's above the chair rail. I really don't mind not painting the bottom. Dad put new wall paper up the summer Mark and I married, coming up on 19 years ago, so its WELL past time for something new.

Glad Vann is responding to the treatment.
Watched most of the Inauguration on tv here in England.
Gorgeous hat.

Oh! OH!!! Did you see on pages 132 and 133 of the new Hancock's catalog that there are even more Flower Fairies that my local shop has? In addition to the pink, periwinkle, and pale yellow, there is a Christmas panel and a hawthorne panel that is in autumn colors. YUM!! In this catalog the framed picture panels are called "cards". Does this mean there are 24 addition and different fairies to be had?! YUM!

And, yes, many, many other fabrics also lure and tantalize me, but my stash is healthy and I can be strong. I think I can!

So glad chemo is over for a little while and that Vann will have a break. Hope he's feeling as well as possible. Prayers continue for each of you.

When Aretha walked up to the podium in that hat I almost fell out of my chair. That bow is bigger than the rest of the hat. She said a few days ago on Larry King that she bought it at her local millinery which is in a small southern town.

As soon as I saw her I thought of the women - and all the hats - in the play "Crowns - Portrait of Black Women in Church Hats". Our quilt group attended together. What a marvelous play!
