Sorry I've been so quiet here for the past few days. On Friday, Vann and I decided to drive down to south Georgia where his parents live. They are both in their late 80s and in poor health. His mom has just moved into a nursing home. It's the usual caring-for-elderly-parents problems, and Vann's siblings who live near the parents, were becoming a little overwhelmed. I'm not sure we were much help, but I'm glad we went. We had to be back by today to take care of a multitude of stuff here, so we returned home yesterday.
It was even more humid in south Georgia than it is here. And the area has the added delight of gnats. It's not just like you see a gnat here and there. It's actually a weather phenomenon. The air is full of the little devils. If you should go through south Georgia this time of year, don't bother to wave back at people. They aren't saying hello; they're just trying to keep the gnats out of their eyes, mouths, and noses.
The photo at top is of Vann's cousin Scott Vann's roadside market at his farm. Scott grows fruits and vegetables. He also sells delicious jams, jellies, pickles, and relishes. We stopped to see Scott, who has just recovered from a rattlesnake bite, and to get some great tomatoes and some of those wonderful jams. We bought peach and blueberry this time.
A wild thunderstorm last Thursday night caused some damage here. It knocked out the upstairs air conditioning unit and blew the lawn irrigation system. The air conditioning has been repaired, but the repairman has not yet arrived to work on the sprinkler system.
I had thought the workmen were coming today to start on the new siding, but they're coming tomorrow instead. That's fine; we have enough going on today as it is.
With so much going on at The Yellow House and elsewhere in our lives, keeping up with blogging is going to be difficult for a little while, but I'll do my best. If I don't answer your sweet comments as quickly or visit your blogs as often as I usually do, please forgive me. Hope everyone is having a great day.

You had a busy and eventful weekend Susan. i remember being in Georgia in August and as a Brit found the storms very powerful and frightening. Don't remember any gnats or maybe we were lucky.

Oh, I am very familiar with those gnats in South Georgia. Pesky little things.
Some other pesky things that drives me nuts are those darn lovebugs in Florida. Yuck!
Good luck with everything your have going on. At least now you have your new friend, Gertrude.

Good morning, Susan. I'm back again this morning to let you know that I tagged you with what is quite a fun tag. Once I got going, I could have gone on and on. I hope you don't mind, but if you do, feel free to just skip it.
I thought of you because I love your sense of humor. You always have such an interesting perspective of fun subjects.
