Members at this morning's June meeting of the Birmingham Quilters Guild brought lots of lovely show-and-tell. Many of them had won prizes in this weekend's Alabama Quilt Symposium quilt show at St. Bernard College at Cullman, Ala. At left is Mary Grace's "Purple Mountains Majesty,: which won a first-place ribbon, Best of Show, and Viewer's Choice. Mary Grace is used to this. She has oodles of ribbons, and frequently wins the Best of Show and Viewer's Choice ribbons at shows.
There were about 100 members present this morning, making the room really a poor setting for picture taking. But I did my best and got shots of lots of the lovely quilts.
****************************************************************************************************************************

None of the quilts are mine. I didn't take show-and-tell today, but I sure did enjoy the others. But mostly I enjoyed visiting with my guild friends that I haven't seen in a couple of months, since I missed last month's meeting.

What wonderful quilts. I never miss a quilt show if I can help it. Sadly I don't live where much of that goes on here. However, there are many country women who have quilted for years, the old fashioned way. By Hand. I will say, the sewing machine quilts are just as amazing.
Thanks for sharing, Jeanne

Oh my gosh, Susan. Each one is a work of art. I would love to have been there with you.
I went to a quilt show once when we were in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and my husband I both enjoyed it immensely.
Thank you for sharing these beauties with us.

Those are absolutely stunning! I've had a love affair with quilts since I was 8 years old & saw my grandmother piecing one. She promised to teach me but sadly, died when I was 10. I've never learned. Still, I LOVE looking at, owning, and (in the winter) sleeping under a quilt.

Those are stunning! I really want to make it to a quilt show, we don't have many in our area. I want to try to find one and make it a day trip for the family. My oldest especially loves looking at and dissecting quilts. I want her to see up close how amazing they are, she's planning on getting better at it this summer. If she could see some up close I know she'll run with it and it will be amazing. Thanks so much for posting these pictures, I'll be showing her later.

The scalloped one looks like it may be shadow-quilted. Lovely. They're all beautiful.
