Not a screw in the sewing machine, but one in my head apparently. At our Sew Fun Day yesterday, I had decided to work on Falicia's wedding quilt. I had printed out the eight remaining photos and only had to make eight
Turning Twenty blocks with the photos incorporated into them. I thought I'd have that done in less than an hour and then I could sew all the blocks together. I mean, how much easier can you get than a Turning Twenty block? Oh how wrong I was.
I could not for the life of me figure out what size to cut the strips of fabric to go around the photos to center them in 10 1/2" squares--which they had to be to fit into the blocks. I ripped out more seams than I sewed, and none of the photos ended up exactly where I intended them to be. It seemed like every scrap of mathematics I ever knew had left me. When I was taking algebra and uttered the oft-asked question, "Why will I ever need to know this?", I wish somebody had said, "Because one day you'll be making a quilt for which you'll need to turn variously sized rectangles into 10 1/2" squares." Then I might have paid more attention.
But I did finally get all the remaining blocks sewn, and I'm ready to sew the blocks together. Our first Sew Fun day at the library was, well, so fun (aside from my foggy brain). Only four of us showed up, but more promised to be there next month. Our sewing room is neat with really good lighting and nice tables, just the right size for sewing.
Here's Mary U's Celtic block that she started in a recent workshop and worked on yesterday. I love her colors.

I spent Saturday as planned, reading. One of the magazines I bought at Books-a-Million was ClothPaperScissors Studio. It got me all inspired to clean up and reorganize my sewing room. So on Sunday afternoon, I began. I got a bunch of stuff done, but of course the sewing room is a real mess now, with boxes sitting everywhere and drawers standing open. If I get another good, fibro-free day this week, I'm going to try to do some more. A quilting bee friend of mine has just reorganized her studio and got rid of lots of superfluous stuff. She says is so much more relaxing now to go into her room and sew. That's what I want.
I am so far behind on reading and answering comments. Please be patient with me; I'll get to them eventually. Thanks to everyone who has sent me good vibes, prayers, and well wishes. I'm still pretty much out of commission with widespread pain and stiffness and severe fatigue, which is likely the reason I had so much trouble making my blocks yesterday. Couldn't be that I'm mathematically challenged now, could it? I went to my doctor today, and he's sending me to another doctor. I'm starting to really hate doctors.
I hope everyone is having a nice April Fool's Day and getting a lot of whatever you l
ike to do done. If anybody sees my daughter or grandson, tell me so I can hide. Every April Fools Day they get me with that "Oh Mom, there's a bug on your shoulder!" gag. And I always, always fall for it. My kids have been doing that since they were little things.

I was glad to see your post, and I hope you will be feeling better soon.
I know the quilt will be lovely.
Watch out for those bugs.

If I saw that bug, I wouldn't just gag...I'd die.
And I'm just amazed at the quilting you do. I'm sure your screws are a lot tighter than mine are when it comes to that sort of thing!

That wedding quilt is amazing, it looks like it going to be a well loved gift. I hope you things clear up a little for you soon, and that until then you make sure to take care of yourself. The library sounds like fun.

That's pretty funny--reminds me of how Lucy pulls the football from Charlie Brown's kick and he falls on the ground. Every single time. Hope you're feeling better today.

That bug is ick. I'd be just fine if there were not bugs in the world LOL. Though I guess they have a purpose. The wedding quilt will be such a wonderful piece to treasure.

One of the best things I've done for myself lately is to stop everything and clean and reorganize my quilt room! Makes it so much nicer to go in there, and I spend less time looking for things and more time being creative. It's worth every minute it takes to get through it. Good luck with yours!
