Stop and Buy the Roses

Star_borderOne of the fat quarters that I showed here Saturday came from a bolt of this fabric (at right). At the time, Terry mentioned that it would make a wonderful border to go with the fat quarters. But I didn't even know what I was going to make from the fat quarters, so I didn't know if I'd even need a border.

At home in my sewing room, going through books and patterns, I found just the design for these soft spring fabrics--Friendship Star (see photo below) from the book Quilts from The Quiltermaker's Gift (see other photo below). Now I had my design, and I was positive the quilt would need a border.

So yesterday, on our way back from the drive in the country, I asked Vann if he would stop at the quilt shop (since we were going right by it). And, being the best husband in the whole world, he agreed to stop. I got three yards, which is more than enough for borders. (Maybe some pillowcases too.) I so want to get started on this quilt right away, but I've vowed to finish Felicia's wedding quilt first. So why am I not in the sewing room??? Bye, y'all.

Your quilt is going to be beautiful! I missed your previous post. I love covered bridges! They conjure up a simpler time in life...
Hugs,
Penny

Oooohhh, yummy! I have that book, and have the page with the Friendship quilt marked with a Post It flag. Someday I will get one made too. I had a friend over to the house for the first time yesterday and she asked to see my sewing room. I was so embarassed. You could hardly move around in the room for all the unfinished project boxes I have everywhere. I need to get going and finish something!

That rose fabric is very pretty. It really reminds me of pillow cases from my childhood. It will be a lovely quilt I'm sure!!
