Yesterday, at the regular monthly meeting of Birmingham Quilters Guild, we celebrated our 30th birthday with a special program, special goodies including a huge birthday cake, a calendar block contest, games, and giveaways. Our program consisted a past- presidents' panel, in which I took part. We talked about how the guild had changed since our terms as president. We all agreed that one of the biggest changes has been in attendance. From an average attendance of about 60 when I was president in 1995-96 to an average of near 120 now. That's double!
We will be coming out with a 30th anniversary commemorative calendar for 2009, and the guild held a contest to choose 13 small journal quilts to appear in the calendar. Here are photos of some of those quilts. I thought they were all winners.

Here's a photo of the huge fabric birthday cake that was the centerpiece of our refreshment table, and also a picture of our president, Peggy, whose bee made newspaper hats to wear to our party.
That's all for now, but I have more goodies to show you this week, so stay tuned.

Susan, the pictures are wonderful, and I can tell you all had a glorious time. Please let me know if those calendars will be for sale because I would love to purchase one.
The needlework is just exquisite. Each piece is a delight. I have so much admiration for those who are so gifted. Needles and I just don't seem to have a good working relationship.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. And, of course, you can use my pin pillow idea. I would be so flattered, and I would love to see a picture of your pin pillow.
I mentioned in my post that I have another pillow for my butterfly pins, but I failed to mention that I have one more pillow that holds Christmas tree pins. I'll post those another time.
Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.
