You Can Tell It's a Dog By the Paw Pads

Sophie_on_sophaYou can tell that Sophie needs a haircut when the only thing identifiable are her paw pads and collar. So do I--need a haircut, that is. But this cold weather just makes me want to stay inside and do what Sophie's doing in the photo.

The cold, dry weather does give Sophie a neat way to get on my nerves though. She likes to go out on the front lawn, which is now covered with dead grass, and have a good roll. The static electricity causes all the dry grass clippings to adhere to her fur. She comes back in looking like the Scarecrow from "The Wizard of Oz" or a porcupine or a grass monster (edited to read "looking like a dead Chia Pet"). Then, unless I catch her really fast and go over her with strips of masking tape to get most of the grass off, it ends up all over the house. When she warms up, the static goes away and the grass falls off. She doesn't like the taping procedure at all. But brushing her only makes the grass cling that much more stubbornly.  I've thought about vacuuming her when she comes in with grass clippings, but I'm afraid that would really piss her off.

Buddy, (grand-dog) would not let you vacuum
anything until he had his turn which took at
least 10 to 15 minutes. Try it, Sophie may love
it.
