Yarn Work Inside, Yard Work Out

Crochet_clown_2 The crocheted clown is one of the last of the Chirstmas decorations to be put away. I brought out all the old toys and dolls and stuffed animals and decorated the hearth with them this year.

My Mama and I made this clown sometime in the late 80s. He was a project I was making for one of the craft books I was editing, and Mama agreed to help me with him. She made all the medallions that make up his arms and legs, and I did the rest.

Lately I've felt more inclined to work with yarn than with fabric.  Last night I worked on some crocheted swatches for a friend and also on some knitted dishcloths. I think I'm going make some more dishcloths this afternoon. I've been getting the downstairs straighten up and cleaned all day. I completed cleaned my stove for the first time in about a year.

While I was doing house work, Sophie and Vann were working in the yard, raking leaves and hauling them to the woods. They're still out there doing something or other, and Paul's with them now. Vann says they're "working on a project." That could mean anything. So I'll just tend to my knitting and let them tend to theirs.Yard_work

Happy New Year, Susan.

Thank you for putting smiles on my face twice!!

The clown just tickled me and the fun that Sophie has on the human motion machine is heartwarming.

We've been wet and windy here. No power loss at my abode, but out at Mom's house across town for a couple of days now.

Take care.

Love the clown! The colors are just gorgeous!! We must be on the same wave(only opposite mediums) because I was just contemplating my UFOs today. Last night I finished a cute, quick crocheted scarf for a friend of the girls. I realized I didn't have anything yarny that needed made(though I have about 8 purses or so that need handles and linings). My quilting, on the other hand, has gotten way behind. I have one UFO that was begun over seven years ago and many others that just need "done". Since I learned to crochet in May of 2005, I've not done nearly as much quilting. It is time to get back to it, at least get it all evaluated and decide what I want to finish and/or start. Not in resolution fashion mind you, I just came to the end of my crocheting needs for now.

Susan, I just love your clown, I've never seen one like it...adorable! I can definately relate to what your going through with your yarn habbit. Believe me I was at the craft store yesterday and it took everything I had in me not to go to the yarn area. :(

This clown brought back memories of my Grandma. She made these (with yo-yos) for church bazaars. She also made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Ms. Sophie is a kick. She looks like she could be in the painting of George Washington Crossing the Delaware. :-)

Your clowns remind me of some of the crocheted animals I made for my girls back in the 60's. They were fun to make and I think maybe my youngest daughter still has them. I need to ask her. I see Vann is loving his tractor and
Ms Sophie does look like she is crossing the Delaware, lol.
