Every year when I hang my Santa quilt in the foyer, I feel like it's the official start of the holiday season. I'm getting it up a wee bit late this year, but here it is.
Back in the early 90s, when I first joined Piecemakers Quilting Bee, we did a Santa Quilt Challenge. We worked on the quilts all that year. I hand-appliqued the appliqued blocks and hand-quilted the entire quilt.
Sally B. made the snowman block on the bottom, and Cyndi W. made the block with the little roly-poly Santa and the tall reindeer, to which I added the blue moon and the trees.
It's always fun bringing out this quilt and remembering all the fun (and a few frustrations) we had making our Santa blocks that year.
I think a couple of the members are still working on their blocks.
Here's a closeup of the center block, which is my favorite block in the quilt.

Oh it sure does look like Christmas at your house! That quilt made me smile and even clap my hands!!! How cute!
We have been decorating but I've been kinda behind a beat or two so it isn't all done yet. At this point I really don't think I will finish it, just down to the dregs of the ornaments. They go better on a fake tree, real trees can't hold my heavier ones. I did manage to get my china hutch decorated(pics on my blog). It turned out cute, IMO.

I can see why the centre block is your favourite! It is a wonderful quilt and it would make even the Grinch feel the Christmas spirit!! I love the Santa head border - too cool!

This is a truly marvelous quilt - each block more perfect than the last. You have a real treasure here to hang up each year. And best of all it brings to your mind the memories of the friends who helped with the blocks.

Oh yes, this is Christmas!!! What a nice way to say "you are welcome". I also loved the center block, but actually, I liked them all.

Susan...
I love the quilt. Very cozy and welcoming.
I'm not ready for the holiday either. Did drag out a 2 foot little artificial tree that still has all the tiny ornaments on it from last year! Today, I finally bought a new vacuum cleaner, so I can get more in the mood when all the kitty hair is captured. I see you've been to Posie's place...I like her, too! It's early, but have a good weekend...

it's beautiful. We haven't even gotten our tree up yet--I'm home 'convalescing' from my basal cell surgery and am not supposed to lift anything heavy. So our house looks like any other time of the year. My teens will probably put it up hopefully this week.
