I've never been a fan of summer. I hate (HATE!) hot weather and high humidity. I hate not being able to wear my soft sweat shirts and snuggling up on the couch with a good book and a warm blanket. I hate trying to take a walk with sweat pouring in my eyes. I hate the high electricity bills that the heat and humidity necessitate. And firecrackers???? I hate firecrackers. And rattlesnakes and ticks and fleas and mosquitoes. Give me autumn any day--or even winter or spring. Just deliver me from July and August!
But there are a few things about summer that I love. And today, I choose to dwell on the good things. Here's a list of the Top Ten Things I Like About Summer.
10. Fresh veggies from the farmer's market
9. Barbeque
8. Blackberry picking
7. Flowers blooming
6. Summer thunderstorms
5. Picnics
4. Trips to the beach
3. Watermelons
2. Lightning Bugs
And the top, NO. 1 thing I like about summer: CHILTON COUNTY PEACHES!

Um, there's not much about summer I like at
all, except airconditioning. And out here,
we are ALL waiting for the "Hotter Than You-Know-Where" weather we KNOW is going to
hit when all the rain is over. It has rained EVERY day in the genl Tulsa area, since 6/9, and we are all SICK of it. But
what's coming will be worse. Hot, Hot, Hot.
I've been thinking about October for several weeks now. . . .

I'm glad you don't like fireworks, either.
They scare the cats, and I'm just tired of
'em, in general. we aren't doing them at
all this yr (always have, because John is
a kid, afterall), but we don't know what
the reaction would be "here". In Tulsa county, which we are barely in, it's only
"legal" to shoot them off YOURSELF in a
county park. But for that one nite, most
neighborhoods don't "say anything" if residents shoot em off. Unless you have
wooden shingles on your roof.
But there's other things I'd rather do, now, in life.

Your peaches look so yummy!...and I'm not much of a peacher. I'm with you when it comes to heat, I'm not much of a summer person at all...I love the fall & winter where I can where my jeans a sweaters and use my oven baking all kinds of goodies. Have a great 4th. Toni

I just finished dinner, but those peaches are making me hungry!
I hate extremes of weather myself. Winter is the season I hate. At least in the summer, you don't have to be afraid of falling on your patootie when you walk outside. But my favorite season is, and always be, fall! I love 'sweater weather'!

Those are some mighty good looking peaches!!
So -- the butt is really the shoulder? Why do they call it a butt then.
I don't like the summer heat either but I don't live somewhere that the heat gets too bad and we usually have a nice ocean breeze in the evening to cool things down. But I do love BBQ's and watermelon :))
