Well, that was fast! The patterns for the church banners came today. So I have to get started now choosing fabrics. Looks like a lot of fabrics to choose. Good! That's my favorite part of the process, choosing fabrics, especially when that means going to the fabric/quilt store and BUYING fabrics.
I also have another plan for making the king size quilt for our bed. Leigh from Victoria, Australia made a gorgeous quilt by the Antique Steps pattern, and I saw it on her blog. I immediately decided that's the quilt I must have for my bed. So here's my very technical sketch, which I will go by to make my own version of Antique Steps.
One thing I forgot about when I was doing my "7 Interesting Things" meme was that I once worked as a technical editor (the above sketch is evidence of why this is so interesting--and odd). The lady who hired me didn't seem bothered when I told her that I knew absolutely nothing about the subject I would be editing (something about forestry machinery, I think). She knew one of my college English professors and said that anybody who could write about poetry could write about anything. I never did understand what I was editing, but I did a good job, I suppose, because when I turned in my notice six months later after acquiring the job I really wanted as an editorial assistant for Progressive Farmer magazine, my boss was really upset. She tried to give me a promotion, a raise, and (as I recall) her first born. But I left anyway.
