Autumn Interiors

Quilt_pumpkinTomorrow I host book club at my house--and my house is a total disasters. Looks like I've been hosting two-year-olds. But it is decorated for fall, so now all I have to do is clear out, put away, dust off, and fluff up.

Thought I'd show you some of the decorations. On the left is a quilt I started in 1980 and finished in 1991. I call it my 11-year quilt. The leaves are needle-turn applique with hand embroidered veins and stems. It's one of my favorite quilts. It appeared in the Oxmoor House book, Quilts for All Seasons, which I compiled and edited. (At the time, OH had a thing against listing employees as the writers of its books, but I did write it, every blasted word of it.

I also made the Jack in the photo. Not original. I used a pattern, but I forget who created the pattern. I made him several years ago.

On the little chair beside the old sewing machine is Sophie's quilt that I made for her before she was born.

Coffee_table

This little fellow (right) on the coffee table is just something I picked up at Michael's a couple of years ago to use at a church party where I was in charge of decorating a table. I think he's cute.

Below is an altered book that fits the season.

Witches_hearth

These are my
hearth witches. The one on the left is Witch Weezle. I made her many years ago as a result of a workshop at Houston Quilt Festival conducted by elinor peace bailey. Elinor herself painted the face for me. The witch on the right was a Christmas gift (really!) from Maria, a good friend who knows I love Halloween. I haven't named her. What do you think her name should be?

Centerpiece

The dining table centerpiece is infested with critters. Eeeeewww!

That's Vann's granny's wooden biscuit bowl.

I love the quilt and the altered book. What book will you be reading? I have wanted to start a book club for several years. Once we get John home and better, I think I will. xo Nita

I love all your decorations but that quilt...omg...OMG! I couldn't do that in 1100 years, let alone 11! It's amazing!!!!
BTW, when you said the centerpiece was infested, I swear I thought you took pictures of fruit flies...then I saw the snake and the frog, LOL!

I have always envied people who decorate their homes for the season, especially when autumn rolls around.

I don't even decorate my blog for the seasons, but I see that you do.

The quilt is incredible. Give Sophie a hug for me.
