Busy Morning

BreakCass - 1

I got up early this morning because I had planned to make a breakfast casserole for our coffee after church today. Strike that: What I meant to say was I planned to get up early this morning, even thought I did. So I was chugging along in the kitchen, cooking and washing dishes. At one point, I decided I'd better check my recipe (which is online) to see that I hadn't forgotten anything for my casserole, which I was about to slide into the oven.

According to my computer, I was much too late to worry about church at this point. The time at the top of my screen showed that I had 15 minutes to bake my dish, get ready, and get to church. That can't be right, I thought. So I checked the clock beside my bed and the one in the kitchen which told me I had plenty of time to get to church. So I checked the computer again, thinking I had just seen it wrong. But, no, It was much too late to finish my baking and get to church.

I realized what had happened: A couple of nights ago, we had a fierce storm and a power outage that lasted most of the night. When I reset my clocks, I obviously reset them to the wrong time.

But the casserole is not going to waste. Daughter Andy came over and took some home with her. I ate a chunk for brunch. And I'm sure Jesse will have some at some point. I'll probably have some more for supper tonight. It's quite tasty. It's made with sausage, eggs, cheese (both cheddar and Monterey Jack) butter, Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix, and some spices. Oh, dear! What a bothersome annoyance to have the clock set wrong but am glad the casserole didn't go to waste!

A few days ago my bedside clock stopped at about 2am and when I awoke, it was daytime but the clock said 2:00 and that was startling. I took the clock downstairs but had breakfast before getting a new battery and, lo and behold, it had started running again so I sent to for the right time and back it went to the bedside table.

I finally took all the ornaments off of the Christmas tree and not I have to put them in their boxes. Want to come help?!

Hugs!

Over the years I’ve enjoyed your blog - especially the list of books & your reviews. When I saw the title “Bitter Blood”, I had to write. I read the book several years ago & that was after I saw the TV movie (or was it mini-series?). When you say some family members are “dangerously nutty” truer words were never spoken. Kelly McGillis is in the movie & does an outstanding job of portraying a wack-o. Harry Hamlin & Keith Carradine are also in it. Both book & movie left quite an impression on me.

Have a Happy & SAFE 2024 & avoid the dangerously nutty!
