The Good and the Not So Good
We had a wonderful family gathering at my house on Saturday night (Christmas Eve Eve) with lots of food and visiting. Then on Sunday (Christmas Eve), Sister Ramey, niece India, and I took part in the ceremony at church by lighting the Advent candles (photo above). Ramey did the lighting; India and I did the readings. The service was held in our fellowship hall and was preceded by a wonderful breakfast.
On Christmas Eve night, I made a big pot of Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice soup. Andy was here with me and Jesse. Andy and I watched the remaining episodes of "Lawman Bass Reeves" and Jesse watched "Jack Frost" in his room.
Christmas Day was actually quiet around here. It started out weird with an early morning storm, power outage until almost noon, and a coffee-less morning. But then Jesse and I had a nice lunch of Christmas leftovers.
Today is very sad. Cait and Kathryn's sweet kitty Lydia had been very sick and. getting sicker since a couple of days before Christmas. Last night she passed away in her sleep at the emergency pet clinic.

Your days before Christmas sound lovely and the idea of the advent service was wonderful. I'm glad you, Ramey, and India could take part.
Your Christmas Eve soups sounds delicious!
So sorry Lydia died at this happy time of year. We lost our beloved Basset Hound, Daisy, on Christmas Eve 2004. Deep sympathy to all.
Hugs!
