The Universe Is Out to Get Me
What a week this has been. First my air conditioner went out last Friday. The part that was needed had to be ordered and it just came in yesterday and finally got installed today. I've spent most of the past week sitting under the ceiling fan. Since the upstairs unit was still working and some of the cool air drifted down here, things never got unbearably hot on the first floor if I sat still and didn't expend much energy.
Then yesterday I went out to make a trip to the grocery store and discovered my car battery was dead. Jesse tested it and announced I needed a new one. He did the purchasing and installing. So I have wheels again.
The foot pain has been getting worse and worse in the past few weeks--actually since my primary care doctor opined that it was nothing to worry about--just age related. As walking has become more and more of a problem, and my right foot has swollen noticeably, I made an appointment with a foot doctor for a second opinion. I was supposed to see her tomorrow. Today her office called and told me that somehow they had triple book and need to move my appointment to next Friday. So I'll have to hop around a bit longer. At least I'm cool.
I told Jesse I think the Universe is mad at me. But then I felt bad about complaining. I have to be grateful that I could afford to get the air fixed and the battery replaced. And I have good insurance to pay the doctor (if I ever get to see her). And I haven't been the victim of a mass shooting yet. So I'm grateful.
I have 35 log cabin blocks made for Karen's quilt. Seven more to go. Then I can start putting it together. I love making log cabin blocks. Hey! Something else to be grateful for.

Oh, bless your heart and other parts! I keep our A/C in my prayers as we cannot afford to get it fixed so I hope it keeps on keeping on.
Am glad Jesse was around to fix your car!
Sorry about your swollen foot. Have you tired an ice bag (wrapped in a towel because ice burns if directly on the skin) with your foot elevated? I sewed a wash cloth in half, making a pocket for a zip-lock bag filled with ice. The wash cloth has dinosaurs on it, so that tells you it's been used when needed for about 40 years!
Hugs!
