Pinwheels, Patches, Etc.
Three more blocks and it will be a cuddle quilt flimsy.
This is the quilt I've begun making for my friend Stuart's first grandchild, a little girl due next month. The pattern is called Pinwheels and Patches and can be found online; just google it.
However, two thirds of the way through the quilt top, I've become dissatisfied. My pinwheel points are not matching. I've made pinwheels before with matching points, but I just don't seem to be able to get these to cooperate. They aren't horribly off, but they're off enough to bother me. Also I don't like the yellow that I chose for the yellow pinwheels. It doesn't seem to pop as much as it should.
See how my pinwheel points are a little off?
So I'm changing plans a bit. This quilt will become a cuddle quilt for my guild's children's charity donations; and I'll make another quilt for Stuart's grandbaby. I already have a pattern picked out--one that I've made successfully a couple of times before. It has no pinwheels.
This is the quilt I now plan to make for my friend's new grandbaby. I'll use lots of pinks and maybe tans. I made the one in the photo several years ago for another friend's first grandchild, which was a boy.

"One Million Years BC" is back from Lena, all quilted and ready to bind. I think Cait's going to be tickled with it. It will be one of her Christmas presents. Good thing she never reads my blog, huh?
The afternoon has become dark and thundery, so I guess rain is on the way. I think I'll cuddle up with Skipper, a good book, and a cup of tea for a while.

Love the cuddle quilt! When I first made pinwheels for AMIL's office at the daycare she ran, I had to put buttons on the pinwheel centers as they didn't match. No small child was to come in contact with that wall quilt, so the buttons were quite safe.
One million years BC is a winner!! Applause!!
Hugs!
