Bearly Begun

Bear - 1

I've been working on the bear quilt for Stuart's grandbaby today. I would have finished up the bear block except that I sewed a section wrong. Since I had already trimmed the triangles squares, I was not able to take it apart and fix it. And I had used every scrap of that brown fabric in my stash. So I have to go to Walmart and get some more of it before I can finish. It's just as well. My back was telling me it was time to stop.

When the bear block is finished, all that will be left to do is cut a whole bunch of squares (I think they're 5 1/2" cut) and sew it all together. Then I can take it to Lena and beg her to quilt fast. Most of the squares will be pink, with maybe a tan inner frame around the bear block. Or maybe just a darker pink than the rest of the squares.

Sorry for the return to WalMart for more fabric as that's a bother. Cute quilt and your friend, his grandchild (and parents) will love it!
I've has a squirrel come through my sewing room today so have stopped everything to make a fabric Scottie with halo for Rob's aunts whose Scottie, Katie, died last spring. Fortunately, I had the printed panel leftovers so could just hand stitch the halo. It's not perfect, but it's good enough.

Hugs!
