Heart to Heart

Journal - 1

Journal - 1 (1)

Valentine’s Day is special to me. It’s the day that Vann asked me to marry him, in 1994. We weren’t married until the following autumn, November 26. I can’t remember exactly why we waiting nine months to do the deed.

The above photos are of an art journal entitled “Heart to Heart,” that was the result of a round robin I took part in in 2012. I created the cover (first photo) and a couple of inside spreads (second photo), and the other participants created spreads as the journals made their rounds.

I’m celebrating Valentine’s Day by having lunch with a couple of friends today. Sister Ramey too. This week got off to an iffy start when I slept late and missed the quilt guild meeting on Monday morning. But then things picked up on Tuesday when I made book club meeting. We met at Joan’s house where she and her husband Frank treated us to a Mardi Gras-themed lunch, complete with decorations. The gumbo was strictly New Orleans style and delicious. We even had king cake (Nell got the baby) with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Tomorrow I’ll be attending a graveside service for Jack, my nephew who passed away recently.

The weather here has been soggy, but today we have sunshine and chilly temps. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? The past year’s weather has been crazy and changing constantly.

Gotta go get ready for my lunch date. Happy Valentine’s Day to all.

What a lovely memory of Vann's proposal in 1994 and what a heart=full of happy memories you have after your many years together!

The Heart Journal is beautiful and is clearly full of love, too.

Sorry you missed the Monday quilt guild meeting but someone probably has photos to share with you if you ask around.

Joan and Frank certainly made the book club meeting a treat for all. What fun!

Again, sympathy for the untimely loss of Jack.

Happy Valentine's day!

Your Valentine memories are so sweet, marriage proposal and all. I'm sure I was reading your blog back when Vann was alive and in your day. So sorry we have to soldier on when husbands leave before us. Your Heart journal was darling. I have never seen one before. Hope I remember to create one with my little grandson soon. Your weather sounds like DFW, sunny one day, warm the next and then the warm weather invites cold soggy days with much colder air. So glad I didn't live on the prairie in pioneer days. Sounds like you're getting around more. I used to work for a pain clinic, and most patients had at least medium to real good results from pain blocks etc., although there are no guarantees.
