A Cool Week with Book Club
On Wednesday, I attended the monthly meeting of my book club. We met at our town’s new Wintzell’s restaurant. After a scrumptious seafood lunch, we launched into a lively discussion of our book selection, Dispatches from Pluto: Lost and Found in the Mississippi Delta by Richard Grant. (See left sidebar for description.)
As she often does, sister Ramey had created a book-related party favor for each of us. This time it was Morgan Freeman as one of her fun jointed paper dolls. Morgan, a resident of this area of Mississippi, figures briefly into the nonfiction story as a member of the town’s pitiful little country club. He can often be found on the golf course there, swinging a club with one hand, as his other hand was rendered limp in an auto accident. I’m not totally clear why Ramey gave him wings. I think it has something to do with the National Geographic series “The Story of God,” which he hosted. My Morgan joins my three other Ramey paper dolls (Vincent Price, Elvis, and a black cat) to form quite a collection.
The weather here has turned wonderful. After a May that felt more like August, mid June is presenting with cool temps and low humidity, more like early Autumn. It was 59 degrees at 6:30 this morning on my back porch. I might become a fan of summer if she stayed like this.
The quilt show starts today. I can hardly keep from jumping in the car and driving to to Trussville Civic Center. But I know my limitations, and I will wait until tomorrow when I can see the show, do the vendors, and pick up my quilts on the same trip. There will be photos.

That sounds like an interesting book so thanks for the mention. Your lunch with the book club ground sounds delicious!
Love your jointed and angelic Morgan Freeman as he's one of my favorite actors. Ramey is so talented!
Enjoy the quilt show and I thank you in advance for the pictures you plan to lake and share with us. Have fun!
Our weather has been lovely, too, and I wish July and August would be just like the past few days. Bliss!
Hugs!
