I had some fun yesterday perusing my stash for fabrics to create “The Dress.”
I also tried out Laura Heine’s technique for fusing, didn’t like it, so I think I’m going to go with what I know. I have never used Steam-a-Seam, which is a little different from the fusibles I’m familiar with in that after you peal the paper away, you can stick the piece to the background temporarily until you iron it down permanently. This is a handy feature since it lets you move things around a bit until you get them just right.
Anyway, my plan was to skip church this morning (I know: bad girl) and work on the quilt some more. But my pain level is such this morning that I might just skip church and go back to bed. Maybe the gloomy weather has something to do with it. We haven’t had enough sunshine this winter to fit in a thimble, it seems. Always raining, foggy, or just dark and gloomy, which it is this morning. That kind of weather normally doesn’t bother me mentally. In fact, I like the cozy feeling of a rainy day. But maybe my physical body doesn’t like it so much.
It’s Not That I’m Lazy
But the last time I vacuumed, I told myself, “Self,” I said, “you can’t do that anymore.” So I sat down right then and ordered a new toy.
I’ve been considering getting a Roomba for a couple of years. (Nobody would call me an impulse shopper.) I talked to friends and family who have them, and Jesse and I both have been doing internet research. Finally I bit the bullet and ordered it. It just came in, and Jesse is even now getting it set up and charged. The above photo is a stock photo from the internet. After we get it going, I’ll post a photo of one of the cats riding it. “Yeah, sure,” says Bella.

I look forward to seeing your progress on The Dress and the fabrics you choose for it. I've never used Steam A Seam either.
Hope the Roomba does all you need it to and that it doesn't make the cats head for the hills. :)
Sorry you feels so bad today and hope you feel lots better soon.
Hugs!

I'm in exactly the same position. Either I hire a stranger to clean my house in my new community or go for the Roomba. Vacuuming one room a day just doesn't cut it. Let us know how your Roomba works out. Glad you feel good enough to start new sewing projects, and an occasional bad day - unh!!

What fusible do you use? I’ve thought of a Roomba for awhile, too.
