Quite a Haul
I garnered a bunch of great goodies yesterday from various sources. First of all, I made it to quilters guild meeting yesterday. Although I wasn't able to stay for the entire meeting (my back started complaining loudly, so I had to leave the discomfort of the folding chair), I did get a chance to peruse the "free table." And look at the treasures I amassed.
Small scraps from the guild's "free table," which might or might not work into my "Autumn Abundance" quilt.
I also found three 7" squares of great Halloween fabric. This is my favorite.
I also picked up a back issue of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine from the free table, but it didn't make it into the photo. There was more, but I didn't want to be a hog.
After I sat in the car in the parking lot for a while, I was able to drive on in relative comfort. On the way home as I neared the exit that leads to my favorite Chinese restaurant, Mr. Wang's, I obeyed my instincts and exited. It happens that Mr. Wang's is located just a few doors up from Hobby Lobby, so first I ducked in there and made a quick scan of their fabrics department. Here's what I found for "Autumn Abundance."
I plan to use gentle autumn colors--not the bright oranges, purples, and pea greens we see in lots of autumn quilts. I think of this quilt as more Thanksgivingish than Halloweenish.
I was in H.L. just long enough to choose these fabrics and have them cut, but that was too long. The pain was back. But I made it on up to Mr. Wang's, filled my plate with scrumptious offerings from the buffet, and sat back in a comfy booth to enjoy. The pain mostly went away while I was sitting there. When I got home, I had these goodies in my mailbox.
The Abundance pattern, which I'll use to create my version, "Autumn Abundance" (working title), and a little quilt pattern that I saw online and had to have. I had forgot that I even ordered it until I saw it yesterday.
After I had emptied the mailbox, I came in to greet Skipper and the kitties. Then I assumed the position on the couch with Skipper, and we didn't do much more moving until bedtime (except to feed Skip and let him out and in and out and in).
Now to the sewing machine to work on the Christmas Tree (which has no real working title yet; I just call it The Christmas Tree.)

Am trying to imagine how you maintain your sanity in the current R.M. fiasco!

The Abundance quilt is so cute. It is calling my name. I have 3 big unfinished projects I want to complete before committing to or even thinking about starting another one. If I buy the pattern now, I can keep fall in my sewing room all next spring (working on it) right? I'm weakening....thank you for the inspiration.

Oh SCORE!! Would you like some equal size squares of Halloween fabrics to go with the 3 you found on the free table?
Have you considered taking some sort of pillow to guild meetings so you're more comfortable? Perhaps tha king that are sold to those who sit on bleachers?
Sorry about your ongoing back pain.
Hugs!
