FYI, I just updated my 2016 reading list (left sidebar) with the last two books I read. The last one, Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, I finished today. I have to say that it is one of the best books I've ever read in my life--and probably the very best mystery. I saw the movie a few days ago and enjoyed is so much that I wanted to read the book. And although the movie is excellent, the book is even better. If you like mysteries, I should think you would love this book.
The other book I read this month is The Light in the Ruins, by Chris Bohjalian, a WWII story that takes place in Italy. It too is very good with wonderful characters. This is the third of Bohjalian's books I have read, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
I can joyfully recommend either one of these books.

I just love your book recommendations and read many of the books that you highlight. I thought that I might return the favor. I would bet that you have already read Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry but if not I encourage you to add it to your list.

I thought Shutter Island (the book) was great. The movie not so great, as there were too many spoilers.
