Pillowcase Project

PC1

Birmingham Quilters Guild is taking part in a service project to make fun pillowcase for the kids being treated at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. So after our guild meeting yesterday, I went by Hobby Lobby and picked out some novelty prints to make some pillowcases. And I have some prints in my stash too that will work for this. I just have to dig them out. That's my first pillowcase in the photo above. I'm using the Burrito Pillowcase technique, which is fast, easy, and makes a really nice pillowcase with no raw seams.

I love making projects with novelty prints in which the prints don't have to be chopped up into small pieces, like for quilts. These pillowcases give the fabrics a chance to really show off.  Don't you just love this one with the kitty cats doing a little bird watching?

PC3Here are some more pillowcase fabrics.

At first I thought I would set myself a goal of making a certain number of pillowcases by the end of the guild year. But then I thought, who needs the pressure. So I'm just going to make as many as I can, hoping for at least 25 by next September.

I have lots of photos to eventually post from Quilt Bee meeting last week and Quilters Guild meeting yesterday. Maybe tomorrow.

Love the kitties & the pillowcases. Re-doing my sewing room so no telling when I'll get back to my projects.

Hi Susan! Those prints are adorable and will be a great comfort to those in need. I bet many will have a smile on their faces as they receive them! Busy here still in the gardens and cutting firewood for winter. Need to be sewing but have not as of yet! Hope you continue to feel well...all the best...Trudy.
