The rows are not yet joined, and neither is the left border (tree trunk). I will do all the blanket stitching before I join everything together. That way, there will be less bulk to deal with at the sewing machine.
I fused my last row of hooties this morning. I am now ready for the blanket-stitch step. But not today. First I have to go to the grocery store and get something ready for me and Jesse to lunch on while we watch Alabama take on Texas A&M. ROLL TIDE!

More cute, cute, cute owls perched to join in the conversation! I applaud your idea to use the applique stitch before joining the branches to each other and to the tree trunk.
You and Alabama are both on a roll! The game is almost over as I type and the score is Bama 40, A&M woefully short of that. :)
ROLL TIDE, indeed!!!
Hugs!

Well now, I do think this is my favorite of all the many quilts and wallhangings you have shown us. Perhaps because my Laura used owls as her nursery theme and now my granddaughter who is 11, is all about owls as accessories for school. You do such great work Susan...thanks for sharing!
