Payoff

DSC_0066
We always said we were going to pull up these holly bushes around the front of the house. Neither one of use ever likes them, and they were a true pain to keep pruned.

This morning when I placed the envelope in the mailbox, the envelope that contained a check for the payoff of the mortgage on The Yellow House, I stood there for a moment and thanked God that I was able to own, free and clear, a home all my own. With so many homeless and underprivileged people in our world, I feel at once blessed and then again overprivileged. But with gratitude in my heart, I offered up my humble thanks as best I could.

After Vann was gone, I finally had the hollies removed and planted my
knock-out roses.

And then, looking up at the house I call home, I began to remember all the years with Vann as we shared those walls, that roof, the love inside. Along with our dog Sophie, who came along several years after Vann and I moved here, we made our little cottage a treasure trove of memories, mostly good memories.

I wish he were here today and we would celebrate making the last payment on our home. Oh he's here, and I'm sure in my heart that he celebrates. I miss you, Boo. Sophie does too. We always will.

A beautiful home and a satisfying accomplishment to have it "paid in full". I thank God that my husband and I were both alive to see the day we paid our home off because it meant a great deal to both of us. I understand your mixture of thankfulness and sadness. Wishing you many years of peace and joy in your lovely home.

I'm very happy for you. I know it's bittersweet though. My Wayne, though gone these past 5 (almost 6) years, is still everywhere in the house we bought together. I miss him every day, the same way you miss your Vann. Sending you hugs.

Cheers, applause, and happy dancing at this landmark event of a final home payment and end of your mortgage!!!!!!

It's a lovely home, well packed with treasured memories, and pretty things yet there is room for more good memories to made and for your delightful creativity to flourish.

Home Sweet Home, indeed!

Hugs!

That is the way we felt when we paid off the farm, early in fact and then found we had a shareholders check waiting for us as well! I wish Vann was with you physically but am certain he is there in spirit. Enjoy your home and treasures tucked inside, the animals and your family ...all the best.

I am so happy for you! Van was with you today, just like you said.

Congratulations, Susan! A well-deserved accomplishment. Hope you go out to eat to mark the milestone. When we paid off our mortgage, we went as a family to the local Depot Grill (where everybody goes who's anybody) and celebrated the Lord's goodness in blessing us with our home. I know Vann is proud and thankful, too.
