Blackberry Winter

The mercury dropped into the 40s last night, and this morning is bright sunshiny and chilly. I love this time of year when the blackberries are blooming and Mother Nature brings in a cold snap to make sure her berry crop is bountiful. At least that's how my mama explained it. She always said that a year without a Blackberry Winter would be a year with a piddling blackberry crop.

Talking about blackberries has made me hungry. There is nothing in this world better than a dish of warm blackberry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

But this morning, I'll have to settle for shredded wheat.

I had toast. Wouldn't some blackberry jam have been good? I remember picking blackberries every summer and getting covered in chiggers!!! Oh my, bring out the clear nail polish somebody. Sweet memories. Have a great weekend Susan.

Lovely photo! Perhaps I'll have seedless blackberry jam on toast with my coffee this morning. That sounds just delicious. Thanks for the thought!

Oh, speaking of chiggers, I remember when I was about 5 and had scratched and scratched because of chiggers. How the nail polish burned because of all that scratching. Ouch!

We had rain all night and our temperatures have dropped, too. Love it!

Hugs!
