Sunny, With a Chance of Furbies

Good morning, Blogland! It's a beautiful sunny day here at the Yellow House, albeit cold. Today's goals: 1) clean out the freezer, 2) go grocery shopping, the latter being my very most hated chore.

I think I will wait till later in the day to shop. Jesse worked last night and will sleep today until about 3:00. That way, I can employ him to carry up the bags of groceries without having to interrupt his sleep. But then, I'll have to rush to make dinner and pack his lunch before he leaves at 5:30. I think a better plan would be to go ahead and do my shopping, bring up whatever needs refrigeration, and leave the rest in the car until Jesse is awake. That way, there will be time for a little rest between shopping and cooking.

Everything is a juggling act in my life these days. I remember, sometimes with longing, those days when I hit the floor running every morning and didn't have to plan for resting between chores--back when I had an occasional night life, before fibro, before the back problem got so bad, before age started adding to the infirmaties, before pajamas became my everyday wear.

But I just thank God that I can still hit the floor at all, if not running. Oh, I don't even remember the last time I ran. But I can walk, and walking is all I need--unless the house catches fire or a bear gets after me. And, you know, I bet you I could run then.

I agree with you. As long as I can still get going, I don't need to run! I do wish I could still get on the floor as easy as days gone by, but I just take my time and try not to think of how it looks when I'm getting up!

Do I ever hear you, girlfriend! Scoot over a bit, please, and I'll join you in the wishing for that carefree energy of years gone by. Lupus fatigue means all my plans every single day are subject to change if I'm too tired. I seldom get thru my to-do list and it isn't ever a very long list to start with. Bummer to the max.

Yep, shopping and bringing in only the frozen stuff is a plan - but as cold as it is outside, perhaps you wouldn't even need to do that!

Cheers for able-bodied and willing helpers!

BTW, Sophie is looking fetching!

Hugs!

Ditto and ditto to the post and to the comments. :-)
May I suggest saving the freezer clean out until, oh, say, mid-July? And then, in the heat of the afternoon, enjoy every minute of it. :-) I enjoy it much more at that time of year, especially if there is a half-gone carton of ice cream to distract.

Yes, planning for rest is the norm now. I'm almost to the point of Cymbalta or Lyrica (tried both once for about 3 days each, didn't know if I was in the world and had no energy). But then I rest, take Aleve and think, no, not yet. Just have to "pace ourselves." Your freezer is so neat. Good luck on the NutriSystem!
