Taco and I finished the last few blocks for our "September" quilt this morning. "September" is what I've decided to call my sunflower quilt. I spray starched the blocks with Mary Ellen's Best Press lavender scented spray starch and placed them all on the design wall to dry. The next steps will be 1) sew the blocks together, 2) find border material and add borders, 3) add the sunflowers, and 3) decide on a longarm quilter to quilt it for me.
I lay abed this morning for a long time before I could talk myself into getting up and doing something. My back, hips, and legs all hurt so bad last night, I hardly got any sleep. It was like my entire lower half was on fire. I finally took a tramadol this morning, and the pain has let us just a dab, enough so they I could concentrate on making those last eight blocks.
I know I should have just stayed in bed. There was no big hurry about getting the blocks done. I just want to have the quilt finished in time for our guild quilt show next June, and there's plenty of time for that.
But when I feel the worst, that's when I panic. It scares me to think that I might become totally disabled and dependent on someone to take care of me. So I push. In a way, I'm glad I push. It gives me confidence that I can do, and doing is very important to me.
Last evening, Ramey and I went back to Joanne's house for a few more games of Dixit with Joanne and handsome nephew Jed. We had such a good time. Lots and lots of laughing. What a blessing sisters are--and the handsome nephew too.
I think now I'll snuggle up on the couch with Skipper and Sophie and watch the tv shows that I recorded last week and never got a chance to watch: CSI, CSI NY, and Fringe.

Taco, brave guardian of the scrap bag

Sorry to hear you were so miserable last night, my friend. If the tramadol doesn't keep you awake, perhaps you should have taken it last night. Just a thought. If your weather has been wet with temperatures that took a nose dive, that may be part of the cause of your misery.
Doesn't that picture of Taco atop the colorful scraps give you an idea for a happy quilt that would belong to Taco? A very scrappy jumble of brights for a background and an appliqued little black cat on top, in the middle or on an edge, wherever you'd be most likely to find the real Taco.
Stay cozy, dress warmly, and enjoy those TV shows with your cuddly pals.
Hugs!

I have been reading your blog for a couple of years and have even made your wonderful peach cobbler. Recently there was an article in our local paper (The Tuscaloosa News) about a local physician that has had success treating fibro patients. I am sorry I can't remember his name but a friend and co worker has an appt. in Nov. to see him. The article was very promising and my be worth checking into.
Wishing you a much healthier future and enjoying your quilting and animal post!

Susan, I hope this new day finds you feeling much better and pain free.
We are having another gray, dreary and rainy day here. We had to cut on the heat last night. It made for better sleeping.
Your kitten is just too cute.♥
