Sister Supper Rocked

Lady-mary-in-trouble-carrying-pamuk
Girls have to do what girls have to do--in this case, get the incriminating body of a quite dead Mr. Parmuk out of Lady Mary's bedchamber.

We had a great gathering at Sister Joanne's house last night. In addition to us three sisters, beautiful niece India and handsome nephew Jed were there. We're always tickled when Jed comes. Since he lives in Atlanta and works all over the country, he is not often able to join us.

After enjoying a scrumptious meal of ham with all kinds of fixings (and dessert of brownies and ice cream, courtesy of moi), we watched an episode of "Downton Abbey," one of the best episodes yet. In this one, Lady Mary falls for the charms of handsome young Turk Mr. Parmuk and is seduced by him, after which (or during--we're not sure) he dies, giving rise to the funniest scene so far in the series. Mary enlists the help of her maid Anna and her mother to remove Mr. Parmuk's body from her bedchamber and return him to his own quarters. I love that episode.

Dixit_2_contents__23394We topped off the evening with a spirited game of Dixit, which Jed had brought along with him. It's a board game/card game in which players use their imaginations to come up with sentences, phrases, or words to describe the fanciful and sometimes quite complicated images on cards. The player's "story" must not be too vague, because you want at least some players to get it, and not too explicit, because you want at least one player to miss it.

You can Google Dixit (or follow the link above) if you like for more information on the game. Being the bunch of natural-born storytellers that we fancy ourselves as being, this was the perfect game for our family. I hate those where you have to sing or draw a picture, both skills that I do not possess. But I love DIxit, and if it hadn't been already quite late when we finished, I would have loved to have another go. We parted promising to get together again soon for another game.

Now, Taco and Bella and I are going to get back to string block stitching. Taco likes to lie on my strings and help me pick out just the right next one.

Poor Mr. Pamuk looks pretty ghastly in the photo! Still think they should have chunked him out the window.

What fun and yum was had at Sister Joanne's home! Gotta love ham and all the appropriate sides plus brownies and ice cream if you're from the South!

I've never heard of Dixit but it does sound like a game right up your family's alley. For sure!

Sigh! I have embarked on a quest to find the flat top pf the table that is beside my sewing machine. It has to be somewhere above the floor (there is too much under the table for the tabletop to be anywhere near the floor). I suppose if I have any backbone at all, I should stop procrastinating and get back to it. Thanks for the diversion - or would that be excuse?!

Remember your feline helper is armed with claws, so take care as you reach for the next fabric strip. You don't want to draw back a nub (as my granny used to say!).

Hugs!

The guy who plays Pamuk is a mighty good actor. He looks so dead after he dies! If they were going to heave him out the window, they needed to dress him first. It's indecent to throw a naked body out of the house.
