The Cure Is Gonna Kill Me

The expectation

The reality

This morning, while the sun was still low, I went outside for my 30 minutes of sun, as Dr. Willie P. ordered. You would think that being outside on a pleasant morning, among the birds and blooming things, with my doggies by my side, would be a healing, relaxing experience. Well, you'd be wrong.

First off, Skipper found himself a digging spot and commenced to dig, accompanying his activity with that high-pitched digging yike that he does. He's either barking at roots or announcing his impending arrival in China. Then Sophie comes to the chair where I'm sitting and begins to paw my leg to let her up in my lap.

By that time, about five minutes, perspiration had begun to flow and bugs of all manner had begun to stick to my flesh. Sweat was running in my eyes, burning and causing tears as Skipper continued yiking, Sophie continued begging for laptime, and bugs continued sticking to me.

The minutes crawled, but at last it was time to come in. This better be working. I'm taking my Maximum D too, just as I'm supposed to do. I expect to be feeling like a 20-year-old any minute now.

But for now I have to go work on some journal pages. I'm past deadline.

Sorry Susan, but you did make me giggle today - I can just see you sitting out in the sun and hating every minute of it.....but I'm sure it will work and you'll soon start feeling much better!

Bless your heart. We haven't seen the sun in a few days around here so any Vit D has to come from the bottle. This humidity is so oppressive!! Poor Skipper, he does have his problems, doesn't he? No wonder Sophie wanted in your lap. All that commotion. Maybe things will be better inside. Have a great afternoon with maybe a nap worked in for all of you!

Find a bandana or cloth headband and tie it securely around Skipper's cock-eyed snout. Then put him in a dog carrier. Then tell Sophie to keep an eye on him. THEN go outside for 30 minutes.

I hear you honey! It's just too humid for humans to be outdoors here and this is the third day in a row of the horrid mugginess.

I suggest one of those clip-on OFF things, a generous spray of deep woods OFF, and/or a citronella candle to have burning in your immediate vacinity.

Does Skipper dislike the water hose? If so, give him a squirt whenever the yipping or digging starts. It's called negative reinforcement. Of course, consider how much water would turn is chosen digging site into a mud waller.

Be good to you as you recover from the assault on ears, eyes, and skin. Come to think of it, might fibro make it necessary to aviod sunshine like lupus does? Hope not, it's a bummer.

Hugs!

Let me know if it works, (turning back into a twenty year old) if it does I might have to give it a try (sitting in the sun). Always love how you can decribe things,I chuckle everytime.

I LOVE being outdoors ... when it's NO HOTTER THAN 55 DEGREES!!!! I seriously loathe heat & humidity (she says as she continues to live in hot, humid Houston) & riding in my housemate's unairconditioned car is MORE than enough torture for me. I'm with Barbara! I'd question the sun's repercussions when it comes to Fibro. I know we lupus folks are not friends with Mr. Shiny. Also love your wonderful way with words despite their being in reference to 30 minutes of misery! HUGS!!!

The giggles you provided me with today was just exactly what the doctor ordered, Susan. Wonderful and wonderfully funny and witty post. I've only just 'found' you, but I love what I've read.

The sun's red and orange spectrum which increase thyroid function which will increase your energy. The uvb is what drains you. Try getting light through windows when the suns out.
