Oh joy! Oh joy! My knee is better this morning. It's still pretty sore, but much improved. No deep aching, and I can bend it (although the squats are definitely out for me, Kai. Have been for a while).
You don't know how scared I was that this was something serious that would require surgery. I had surgery on my right knee in 2002, torn meniscus. That's the surgery that I can remember nothing about--not going to the hospital, not being prepped, not recovery, not physical therapy, nothing. It was shortly after that weird surgery experience that the fibromyalgia symptoms began. Of course, it was quite a while after that I finally got a diagnosis. I have always suspected that the surgery or the anesthesia was somehow connected with the fibro.
But I'm hoping that this knee is just suffering a twist or a sprain or arthritis or "maturity" or something that will not need surgery. There's no telling what I would come out of the next surgery suffering.
Anyway, in spite of the knee pain yesterday, I did get a good bit of work done on the BOM quilt blocks. That's all. It rained most of the day; so even if I had had two good knees I wouldn't have been able to do the weed eating that I planned to do. Not going to do it today either. I'm going to be really good to this knee and let whatever is wrong with it get well.
Just look at the awesome clock in the above photo that was delivered to The Yellow House yesterday from Farmhouse Wares. The house is woefully deficient in time pieces. Family and friends complain constantly that they never know what time it is. I've never found it a problem unless I have somewhere to be. Then I can always turn on the computer, iPad, or tv and find out the time--or look at the stove, microwave, or coffee maker. But I've decided to outfit the house with a few clocks for the benefit of visitors.
So where do I start? The bedroom, where visitors hardly ever go. But I saw this clock online and loved it and decided it was just right for my bedroom. I didn't realize it was so big though. I had planned to set it on my night table. It's so big that it doesn't really fit there, so it's on the dresser, where I think it looks great. And because it's so big (around 9-10 inches tall), I can tell the time from the bed when I wake up in the morning, without even putting on my glasses.
I just love the antique look of it. I was sorrowed to find that it, like every blasted thing in this country these days, was made in China. That's one reason I love buying things at thrift stores and yard sales. One can still find Made-in-American items.

The alarm isn't real, it's just for show. Bet that mama could make a racket if it were real.
Now that I'm not in a panic about my knee and the fibro and back problems are not flaring too badly, I have plans running around in my head for new projects. Here's one that's going on the top of the list (photo below). Not sure I can do this as well as this person (people) did, but I want to give it a try. And I have just the spot for it: beside the back steps where my English ivy grows. I might have to get Jesse to help with this project.

Gonna name my flower-pot folks Ivy and Zale (for azalea).

Love your new clock, but must agree that it's sad it was made elsewhere. I, too, love buying from thrift shops because old wood is better than most new wood (growth rings were closer together in times past so made stronger wood) and the workmanship is often excellent.
Cheers that your knee is feeling better! What a wonderful answer to prayer that is.
Cute flower pot "people"!
Remember that poem about "My get-up and go has got up and went"? Well, my creative enthusiasm has also got up and went, so if you see it, will you please send it back home? I miss sewing and such fun, but cannot seem to muster up the uumph to get going after I've done all of the other stuff that's clamoring for my attention. Bother!
Hugs!

I found your blog through Posy gets Cosy. Funny, because I am 54 and dealing with torn cartilage in both knees. Fun! A little nervous about impending surgery. Also, am having a resurgence of Carpal Tunnel and it is nasty! I,too, lovr thrifting etc.... I got a kick out of your blog.

My guess is you have arthritis in your knee(s). I used to think it is a myth but it is not - when the pressure changes, your joints will tell you! You mentioned you are hurting AND you mentioned it was raining. There is probably a connection!

Your potted people are soooooo cool! (Note: I realize THEY are not potted, it just sounded cute to me. Can you tell I've not had enough aka ANY sleep?) And the clock DOES look like a marvelous antique! About the squats - they are actually a big, BIG no-no with this shattered kneecap & they hurt like fire. But when I used to do them ALL the time, pre-accident, they made my legs so wonderfully strong. I just HAVE to try! (However, Mr. Lupus is scowling at me & Mr. Fibro is LAUGHING at me. Sigh.) Time will tell if it helps me or kills me - in which case the latter occurs, Ray promises he will notify you.
