With the help of regular doses of muscle relaxers, daily applications of SalonPas, and much perseverance, the quilting is coming along well. I have probably a couple days more worth of quilting, then I can attach the photos of Mama, bind the quilt, remove the basting, and do all the other finish-up work. I think I can finish by Monday morning. I think I can, I think can.
On Monday afternoon past, I messed up and took the dogs for a walkabout. Well, they had stood in front of me and stared at me for an hour. I just couldn't take it anymore. All went pretty well. I wore my back brace, and made it all the way around the block without passing out from pain.
Then, all of a sudden, walking up the driveway, Skipper saw Munchie (one of the next-door cat neighbors) and pulled the leash out of my hand and took after her. I let Sophie off her leash immediately and told her, "Go get Skipper." She must have thought I said, "Go have fun."
There they all went. With Munchie in the lead (man, that cat can run), Skipper hard on her heels dragging his leash, and Sophie bringing up the rear, the line of furricans crossed the street and disappeared into the woods. Ah Jeez!
Knowing it was a bad idea, knowing I should just stand where I was and wait for them to return (surely they would), I followed, albeit at a much slower pace. I blazed my way through the trees, weeds, and bushes, yelling "SKIPPER!!" all the way. At the top of the hill, I found Sophie calmly viewing the scene before her: Munchie up a tree and Skipper on the ground barking at her--sans leash, sans harness. Somewhere in the woods he had disrobed. His walking equipment was nowhere to be seen.
I got hold of the little monster and attached Sophie's leash, which I still had in my hand, to his collar. I looked around as best I could for his stuff, but couldn't see it. I knew I had only about enough rusty old spoons left to make it back to the house, so I decided to come back later to look for his things.
That did it, of course, for quilting the rest of Monday. By then the back pain was screaming and the fibro pain was pretty bad too. My face was red, and my strength was gone.
Yesterday, without any dogs, I went back across the street into the woods to look for Skipper's leash and harness. I didn't get much looking done, decided I might have to wait till autumn when there was less woodsy stuff to climb through.
On the way back home, I stopped in the yard directly across the street from The Yellow House, empty now and for sale, and pilfered some blossoms from the flowering shrubbery. Gardenias and something purple, as you can see in the photos. The gardenias make my dining room smell so good.
So now I'm going back to my quilting. I've informed Sophie and Skipper that there will be no walkabouts until the quilt is finished. And then only if Skipper can tell me where he left his equipment.

Bless your heart and other parts, my friend! May rest and medicines help you feel 100% better quickly.
It's amazing how cats and dogs can so swiftly wiggle out of their collars. When will they make collars and leashes, etc with homing beacons, GPS, or beepers?? Neon colors that don't blend with anything in nature would be good, too.
If it helps, I think you can finish your quilt, too, I think you can, I think you can. I'd loan you some spoons, too.
The flowers are just beautiful!
Hugs!

Wow, Lady, sounds like you had quite a trip there! LOL! Why do dogs have to get so excited about a cat, anyway! Another LOL! I am just so sorry that you are in so much pain. It sounds horrible! Maybe try doing some slow stretching exercises to help elongate those muscles, but don't put yourself to any strain, and if it hurts don't do it. You're quilting a lot and sometimes being in those positions can put your body in a bind. Stretching helps! I can't wait to see that beautiful quilt when you are done with it. I know it will be FABULOUS! Your flowers are so beautiful. I bet they cheer your heart right up. I LOVE the beautiful container you have them in.
Here's to your health,
Brenda
