Just as I was about to go out the door yesterday to attend Billie's service, the phone rang. It was Diane's husband Joey (Big Joey, she called him) calling to tell me that Diane had passed away.
Diane was Sophie's groomer. She came in her dog-grooming van once every few weeks to give Sophie a hair cut, bath, nail trimming, etc.
She came, that is, until about nine months ago. That's when Diane called me to tell me she had lung cancer and would be taking some time off. She fully expected to recover and be back taking care of her "babies."
Diane was one of the sweetest, dearest people I've ever known. She loved the doggies and did indeed think of them as children. I know Big Joey is going to miss her horribly. He was crying by the time we finished talking yesterday. So was I, of course.
I've looked all morning for a photo of Diane to post. I know I have some of her with Sophie, but I can't find them. So I'm posting this pretty vase of roses for her instead. Her service is Monday morning.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend passing away. People who love animals are the best kind of people. The photos of the roses are lovely; it's a nice compliment to her memory.

Bless your heart and Big Joey's heart, too. This is a double whammy and just too sad. All who loved Billie and Diane are in my prayers.
The folks who help care for our dear pets because they love animals are truly precious. I wonder how many beloved pets already over the Rainbow Bridge ran to welcome Diane?
