Building Houses

I joined a house block swap with the Cloth Paper Studio group. The blocks are tiny, 4 inches, and we only had to make three. Here are mine.

House1
House 1

Houseblocks2,3
Houses 2 & 3

I'm not sure what I'll do with the three I get in the swap. Maybe make one more and use them to make a two-by-two mini-quilt. Or not make another and use them to make a three-down mini-quilt. We'll see. I'm sure they'll speak to me when I see them.

Today is Sophie's 10th birthday. And since we don't know when Skipper was born, it's also Skipper's birthday--we're calling it his third, based on Dr. Rachel's best guess when he arrived.

Do you, or did you ever, have older relatives and friends who used the phrased "down in my back"? Well that's what I am today. Waaayyyy down. I almost didn't get out of bed. And then I remembered it's Doggie Birthday Day and also that I promised Lori I would come to hand-bell practice at church tonight.

Now I'm one of the most unmusically talented people you'll ever want to meet. I can read music and tell you what the note is, but I can't tell you what it sounds like. I'm going to make it perfectly clear to our choir director that if I'm as bad at this as I expect to be, I won't last long as a bell-choir member.

So now, I'm going to go and fill the tub with hot water and soak my aching back. Then I'm going to play with my birthday dogs. I can't take them for a birthday walk, due to back thing, but also because it's still raining.

Happy Birthday Sophie and Skipper. Hope your back feels better.
Could you make a table runner out of the houses. They sure are cute.

Cute little houses and I love the cat, the flag, and the swirly night sky that give each house some bling!

Happy Birthday to Sophie and Skipper!

Yes, some folks in my family used the phrase "down in my back" and I'm sorry your back is so uncomfortable. I hope that hot bath and some appropriate pills help you feel lots better soon.

The higher toned bells are smaller and lighter weight but carry the melody so their bellringers are often very busy Alto bells have a mid-weight range so they might be easier to handle. The forward arm movement and snap of the wrist it takes to ring the bells can aggravate back pain, especially with the larger and heavier bells. When you back isn't already hurting, it's warmer weather, and not raining, I think you'd have lots of fun in the handbell choir and what lovely music you'd be part of making! It's something to consider and Lori will understand if you decide it's unwise to play the bells just now. Come to think of it, Lori and the choir director could give you good advice about this.

Hugs!

Hello Susan,
Despite a rainy day, I am hoping that you and Sophie and Skipper have a grand day!

Birthday wishes for Sophie and Skipper: May the most you wish for be the least you get! (Think special treats here!)

Oh, and an idea about the hand bells...rarely do people notice a wrong note. The bells sound so beautiful that adding a different note than what is intended is simply a beautiful addition or a jazzy interpretation. I hope you have fun with that!

Happy Birthday to the doggies. We don't celebrate the kitty birthdays in our house since they are spoiled rotten every day. I really like the house block with the cat in the door. Mine love to sit there and watch the world outside.

Happy Birthday Sophie and Skipper! Hope you gave them extra treats! Those blocks are lovely. When I find a new block, I always try out just 1 first, to see how I like it. So, what I do with the '1' trial block is make potholders! I've also framed them.
I hope you had fun at bell practice. I really miss being in bell choir. It was always fun.
Hope you're back gets to feeling better.
Hugs....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MS. SOPHIE & LIL' SKIPPER!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUU!
(And, Skipper ... that DOESN'T mean you get to dig to China. Mama's back hurts & she isn't going to want to chase you there so be a SWEET birthday doggy-boy!)
Love your teeny blocks, Susan! I wish I lived close enough to learn to quilt from you! Sigh! You CAN do the bells! I know you can! And I definitely am familiar with the expression 'down in my back'! Love you & I hope the soaking helped!
