UFO Progress Report: Week 45

Floppy bear headMeet Bentley Bear--or I should say, meet Bentley Bear's head. I found all his pieces cut out and stored in a big bag in my sewing room closet. I remember him. He has been started for more than ten years. The intention was to set him on the front porch at Christmas time. Well, this year, Bentley is going to serve his life's purpose. I got all his pieces sewn together. (When he's finished, he will be about 3 ft. tall.) Now I just have to add his eyes, attach his head to his body, and stuff him. I'm going to the thrift store to see if I can find him a nice warm, colorful scarf, and maybe a knitted 'boggan hat, to wear to stay warm while he's on my front porch.

But, right now I have to do some house cleaning and get ready for my date tonight. I couldn't sleep soundly last night for thinking of this. I hope it's not what one of my former bosses used to call a "boondoggle," which I think means something that probably shouldn't have been undertaken. It sort of reminds me of the word lollygag, which means doing something you shouldn't be doing instead of the thing you should  be doing--like blogging instead of cleaning house.

So I'm going to stop lollygagging and commence getting my house ready for my gentleman caller, a night which may or may not prove to be a boondoggle.

Y'all be sure to post your links below so we can see what UFOs you have been working on--or not working on if you've been lollygagging.

What a cute idea! I can't wait to see him finished and sitting on your porch. I think it will take a boatload of stuffing to fill him up!

I love the bear! Poor guy...I feel sorry for him sitting in a box for ten years. At least he's in production now! This week I'm showing a finished flimsy, and I've got a UFO under my quilting needle. No lollygagging here :)

Good luck on the date!

Love your Bentley Bear and he'll add such charm to your porch decor at Christmastime. He'll certainly need a cozy wrap, even in Alabama!

When DS1 was just out of his baby bed and into his big boy bed, I made a "bear" rug from a pattern and fake fur. Bear was put beside DS1's bed so he'd have a soft landing should he roll overboard. The bear rug worked well for its intended purpose, but it also was a dear friend, a worthy adversary, and a tackle dummy by turns in the ensuing years.

Perhaps you should consider having a glass of wine to settle your nerves before you embark on this evening's adventure? Do enjoy yourself! Hope the word of the evening is "serendipity", an unexpected, fortuitous discovery you happen upon.

Hugs!
