UFO Progress Report: Week 40 & Retreat Report

DANG! I had my post almost finished (and it was a long one) and Safari "unexpectedly closed." Sometimes when that happens and I sign back on, my computer has saved my work--but not this time. It's gone. So I have to start afresh.

Retreat was great. I had a wonderful time with a bunch of my quilting buddies and got lots done. I also depleted my spoon drawer and aggravated my carpel tunnel--oh, and gained back a pound of my hard-lost weight. But it was all worth it.

Busted!

 Basted!

I made progress on several of my UFOs and even busted one, UFO #19 "Autumn Winds." I got all the blocks constructed (all 99 of them) for UFO #16, French General Snowballs, and got UFO #24, "Blackberry Creek" (previously Cozy Cottages), basted for hand quilting. Now whenever the carpal tunnel thing heals, I can start quilting.

Unfortunately, I can't show a photo of all those snowball blocks that I made. I didn't photograph them at retreat; and when I loaded up the car to return home yesterday, I left out the bin that they're in. My friend Mary S. found and retrieved it, and she is bringing it to me at guild on Monday.

Elayne Vognild, when who did the beautiful quilting on "Bunnies in the Cabin," is also delivering "Twisters" to guild on Monday.

Now then, that's my UFO report. (Find Mr. Linky below to post your link if you're a buster.) Following is a pictorial report on the retreat. It has become a tradition that my bee, the Piecemakers, and sister bee, Patchwork Pals, join together each October (or thereabouts) for a four-day quilting retreat. For the past few years, we have been going to Magnolia Park, which is a mere 20-minute drive from my house. But this year, we returned to Red Rooster"   on beautiful Smith Lake in North Alabama, the place of our previous retreats. The same family owns and operates both places, and we love them both. But it was very good to get back to Red Rooster and see Jim and Jennifer again. We've booked our reservations for next October there as well.

Below are some of the photos I shot of our busy and fun Red Rooster Retreat 2011.

Welcome home!!

LOVE the way Autumn Winds turned out and congratulations on getting Blackberry Creek ready to hand quilt! Bummer about the annoying carpal tunnel flare, but time and meds will take care of that. I look forward to seeing the Snowball quilt and the quilted Twisters when you get them back next week.

What great photos of Red Rooster and all of the wizard creations you've shown today. What fun and what a great venue for this yearly retreat, too.

Glad you're not bent out of shape having regained just one measly pound after all of the fun with friends and food!

Hugs!

Love your top photo Susan. Beautiful quilt and congrats on two more busts! I will try and get something posted for UFO....our internet provider has been down--it's a shame to realize how addicted I am to this computer. I felt lost for two days while it was being repaired!
