Here's Sophie in her summer do and ready to take on this Alabama summer. Now if only a haircut would do that for me. I'm counting the days till October. I hear tell that parts of the country are receiving a little relief from the heat, but not here. And it's not just hot; It's dry as a sodie cracker, with air quality alerts and no-burn orders and such. My very least favorite kind of weather.
Last evening, while I went to Trussville to retrieve Sophie from the groomer, Skipper spent some time with Andy and Jesse and Lucy (A & J's kitty cat). Andy told me that Skipper couldn't get Lucy to run from him and he got all frustrated. He's used to John's cats next door who scatter when he charges. Lucy, who is the oldest cat in America, wasn't having any of his foolishness.
All right now, on with the progess report. Remember this, #15 on my UFO list? It's listed as "4th of July Sophie," but I think I'm changing the title. Not sure to what yet. (Maybe "Let Freedom Bark"?)
This week I added borders and started the basting process. I'm going to hand quilt it and try to have it ready for my front door in time for Independence Day. It's a small quilt and won't have a huge amount of quilting, so I think I can do it.
In other quilty news, I now have 70 hexie flowers completed. I think that's about half of how many I need for the table topper. At one time I was thinking I'd make enough for a full-size quilt, maybe even big enough for my king-size bed. I have since talked myself out of any such notions.
OK now, here comes Mr. Linky. All you busters, please add you links so we can pay you a visit.

The heat has been making me think about a shorter "do"...maybe cut off just enough to get the hair off the back of my neck.

What a cute Sophie wall hanging!! Methinks "Let Freedom Bark" is a perfect title, but you're as good at titles as you are at joyous creativity so I leave it to you.
Sophie looks as if she wonders what happened to her curls!
No UFO progress for me as I've been sick off and on all week.
It's hot and dry here, too, and we're thinking of doing a rain dance. Our "90% chance of rain today" dropped to a 40% chance of "scattered storms, especially in the evening." Bummer! The last 3 days the temp has been near or just over 100*F and that's just not right for June in Virginia. TGFAC!!!! That's Thank God for air conditioning!
Hugs!

Sophie looks like she's telling Skipper he'd better NOT make a comment about her haircut or else...he could find himself bunking with Lucy for the summer!!

Oh! Ms. Sophie, how BEAUTIFUL you look in your new Summer 'do'! And ALSO in your quilt! Susan, what a great quilt! Whatever you TITLE it, I call it AWESOME! And weather? We are twins to YOU here in Houston. Disgusting time of year, isn't it? Yesterday afternoon I told Ray, "You know I would SWEAR I hear rain." He peeked out the window & - whoa! - we were having a real downpour! I hurried to open the blinds & curtain in the room so I could WATCH the rare sight. And - bingo - by the time I got the curtain open, it stopped. Ray said I jinxed it. LOL! I NEEEEEED AUTUMN!

WaaaaaaaHHHOOOOOOOO!!! Thanks be to God!!! This evening it RAINED for two hours, an intense, lightning and thunder, cats under the beds downpour!!!!! Joy! If not for the thunder and lightning, I'd have been outside dancing in it.
Still smiling.... even tho all of outdoors will be a sauna tomorrow....
Wishing enough rain for everyone who needs it, minus the sauna, if possible.
Hugs!

Hi Susan ~ just checking in on Sunday evening. Love the Let Freedom Bark!! So bright and colorful. I didn't get anything on UFOs done this past week...too much going out and having lunch with friends. It was all good though, and I'm psyched to buckle down at the machine this week.
