One of my favorite quilters, and probably one of yours too, Mary Lou Wideman, has lost her six-year-old blog. Google won't let her into it to post, design, see her stats, or anything. Seems they've even given it a different name. So, bless her heart, she has started a new blog. She has lost many of her followers with the disaster.
If you are one of Mary Lou's blog followers, please click on this link to go to her new blog.
And if you aren't currently one of Mary Lou's followers, let me tell you that you don't know what you're missing. Her quilts and creations are whimsical, joyful, and just plan fun to look at.
I've never had an opportunity to take a class with Mary Lou. But she's on my Bucket List. And just as soon as she holds a class near enough to me for me to attend, I'll be there. Now click on that link and go see what I'm talking about.
I have reasoned for a long time now that I need to back up my blog some way so that I would not lose it if I experience the kind of disaster that Mary Lou has had. But I don't know how to do that. Can anyone tell me, please?

I went into the html code and copied it, at least I'll have all the format coding. Will be anxious to hear other's suggestions.
Meanwhile, I'll go Mary Lou's new site (actually a new one for me), thank you!

What a terrible thing to happen. I thought that "blogger" had all our post and blogging information safely stored away. Seems that is not the case. I am one for any blogging help hints. I know so little.

Oh, dear! I'm so sorry to hear that Mary Lou lost all those years of blog posts, photos, and replies. Bummer to the max!
I have no suggestions about how to back up a blog but surely there is a way to do that.
Thanks for the link to Mary Lou's new blog. Love the quilt you posted as it's too charming and delightful. Some people have such wonderful imaginations and talent! Mary Lou is one of them.
I hope Andy is doing well and that you each have a day of restful healing. As she probably knows, the third day post-op can be the worst. Please encourage Andy to take her pain meds today and then slack off tomorrow or the next day if she's feeling good enough.
Hugs!

Poor MaryLou! Love the quilters bent over their work :)
On Blogger you can export your blog from the settings tab to save a copy on your computer (or to an external drive or flash drive--wherever you like). I don't think that includes anything but text, however. There must be a similar feature in Typepad, I would think. I back up my blog monthly but probably should do it more frequently and to a flash drive instead of my PC!

Grrrrr! I had a blog for almost three years - THE PARTY IN KAI'S HEAD - which, one day, Blogger just decided to unceremoniously delete. Permanently, I might add. Did it have ANYTHING offensive (other than my usual silliness) on it? Nooooooo! Yet, POOF! It was suddenly GONE. I am currently on post #289 of my current blog & I'd be hopping MAD if it disappeared! I'm going to check out your friend's new blog! HUGS!!!

I wonder how these strange (at least I hope its rare and strange) things happen? How can a blog that old just disappear into thin air???

HI Susan and sweet ladies- I have backup's for ebverything on my sites (Mozy is my favorite) BUT if Google takes your code and changes it, then you cannot get back in because they take the tabs for design, posting etc., and in my case even changed the name of my blog and my photos are gone from Picassa etc.
I have talked to a number of people who had this happen and I hired two different people to see if they could do anything (they would know how if it could be done). Nope. I just never thought it would happen to me. THANK YOU Susan and blog friends for helping me out.

Thanks for the link to Mary Lou's new blog. I was a follower of hers and will go sign up to follow the new one. I also just backed up my own blog. I've been considering switching blog hosts after all the problems Blogger has had recently. I've also heard of at least one other quilt blogger who lost her blog under similar circumstances to Mary Lou.
