What else could it be? For some time now, women have been expected to walk around in shoes that are not only ugly, but dangerous as well. For the past couple of fashion seasons, the shoes have become not just merely ugly, but really quite sincerely ugly. Take a gander at the following cases in point.

The shoe above would go quite well with the hat that Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding.
This shoe (photo above) takes the wearer from a trendy party straight to the basketball court without changing footwear.
I think all that strapping was meant to hold the wearer upright. I doubt it works.
Huh?

Now 'fess up. These shoes are UGLY! Not only are women being controlled by the whims (and I think sometimes the outright jokes) of the fashion industry, but they're putting their lives and health in danger doing it.
Aside from the obvious risks of breaking an ankle, rupturing a knee, or falling off the darn things and breaking a neck, look below at what bad shoes can do to your feet.
This (photo above) sort of puts one in mind of ancient Chinese practice of foot wrapping (photo below).
Gives new meaning to the term, "Oh my aching feet."
So let's start a movement. No more ugly shoes that warp our feet and put our lives in danger. Let's vow to go with comfortable shoes instead. After all, comfortable shoes are the new cute shoes.

Ouch and owie! Foot pain is a terrible curse. My aunt has feet that could be one of these photos, but her's is not from abuse. Her foot issues are hereditary.

I'm with you. Shoes should be comfortable and stylish. Stylish shoes that entrap your feet and limit your mobility are crazy things thought up by deranged designers!

I'm with you - the current shoes are sooooooo ugly. Since I've stopped working I live in loafers and sneakers with an occasional flip flop (not too often though as they are not good for your feet either). Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's day to you.

Hear! Hear! I used to have a shoe obsession. I have about 40 pairs of really cute shoes. But I stopped buying shoes because now they are so UGLY that I wouldn't be caught wearing them! Maybe when the cute shoes come back in fashion I might start buying them again. But I sure am getting used to wearing comfy sneakers!

I really like shoes - a few of those I would almost actually like, but for the most part - those are just ridiculous-looking. I'm with you - I want comfy! And there ARE some cute, pretty and comfy shoes out there - I have some of them. (I also think some of the clothes fashions we're presented with are not realistic either).

Shudder! Spare me those aching feet! I will never forget the patients we saw in the ER in the 1970s whose chief complaint was "Slipped and fell of shoes." I kid you not.

as you can see on my blog, we're in italy now and trust me, every woman around me is wearing sky-high heels. it is completely beyond me. while i have to admit that it often does look nice, sexy and feminine, most of their shoes would be uncomfortable to me.
