I Made It!

I got most of my cooking done on Saturday afternoon, was able to go to church on Easter morning, and got back in time to finish up the Easter dinner before my people arrived.

It wasn't easy, but I'm so glad that I was able to follow through and enjoy a great afternoon with my family. Not everyone was there, and I missed the ones who couldn't make it. But everyone in attendance, including Skipper and Sophie, had a great time and ate too much. Today I rest.

Ramey Quilt

NOW, just look at this beautiful quilt top that my sister Ramey found at the local Flea Mall over the weekend. My other sister Joanne and I drooled over it and had to fight feelings of jealousy that Ramey found it and not us.

I also want to share with you this quilt in progress that my sister Joanne is working on. My niece Jenny, who passed away several years ago, made the blocks. Jenny was probably the best needleworker in the family, as these blocks attest. You might have seen the photo already on Joanne's blog as her UFO progress report last week. I just wanted to make sure everyone sees it.

The pattern for this block came from an old Oxmoor House book, Progressive Farmer's Award Winning Quilts, 1974. If you ever see a copy of this book at a thrift store or yard sale, I suggest you buy it. It has some wonderful block patterns, all submitted by Progressive Farmer readers.

Deborah emailed me to tell me that she has all my binding made (enough for six quilts) and is putting it in the mail. Guess I know what I'll be doing for a while. Binding UFO quilts.

After I took The Jungle Quilt to Lena last week, I found this quilting design, called "Animal Crackers," online:

I had chosen a leaf design, but this one is so much more fitting for the quilt. I talked to Lena and she's going to call the company and order it today.

I hope all of you had as fine an Easter Sunday as I did. Now I'm going to get started on resting up from all the cooking, eating, visiting, talking, and laughing.  And I already know which UFO I'm going to start on next. Tell you tomorrow.

So glad to hear you had a wonderful Easter with your family. Thanks for the "walk down memory lane". I hadn't thought about the Progressive Farmer in years! I agree with you on the animal cracker quilting. It's perfect!! Enjoy your day of rest.

Love the flea market quilt! Jonquils? My birthday flower! The Persian Puzzle is so pretty too. I remember my two great aunts received the Progressive Farmer when I was a teenager and I loved reading it.

What a wonderful meal! Even I managed to eat a'plenty, while chasing, playing with, running after and feeding Reed Agan! We had a good time in your back yard, and then playing with your ice cube and water dispenser on the 'fridgerator door.

I'm quite delighted with myself for finding that quilt top. Great photo!

If Ramey doesn't mind, I may copy the sashing pattern of her gorgeous quilt top to put the horse blocks together.

Jed and I also ate and ate and ate from your copious dinner table, and we thank you! Your potato salad was especially great.

Susan, I'm so glad you were able to accomplish so much!! That means the 'monster' must be waving goodbye or you just pushed through all of it. In any case, you put me to shame with all your accomplishments! The 'found' quilt is lovely, and so is your nieces quilt. I'm in agreement with everyone that the animal cracker quilting is perfect! You have inspired me to get 'cracken' on my 'quilten'. Started the DJ quilt Oct. 1st 2010 and I'm on row M(last row). Still have the borders to piece, but, as soon as this last row is finished, I'll assemble the blocks and send a picture. Thank you for sharing your pics! Pat Mc

Alrighty then, Ms. Ramey! I'm just not amused that you found that gorgeous quilt & I didn't! But - sigh - I GUESS if I couldn't find it, I'm glad you did! LOL! Really tho', it IS a stunner! Love quilts of ALL kinds! And Susan, I'm so happy your Easter stuff got 'did'! I knew it would! LOVE YOU SO MUCH & I just read your comment on my blog. Sorry I worried you! I had posted to my blog before I left and told everyone I'd be gone. BAD Kai! I think I must not have said for so LONG. Ooops. (Can you tell I'm tired? My words and thoughts are all OVER the place & the sillies are taking over.)

Hi!

Glad to know you were able to get things done for the family Easter gathering and still make it to church, too. Well done!

SCORE for Ramey on finding and buying the lovely daffodil quilt. It is so very pretty.

Jenny's blocks are so interesting and well done! It's wonderful those cherished blocks are now set together with the red sashing or an adaptation of the daffodil sashing.

Love the Animal Crackers quilting pattern you found and am so excited that your Jungle Quilt will have this design. Cheers for Lena for being brave and willing to give this fun wild critter pattern a go.

Hugs!

My Sweet Mother had us over for lunch after church on Easter Sunday. It was so nice. It sounds like you had a great Easter too!
